Training Plans

Okay so how do you go about selecting which marathon training plan to follow?  Does anyone have any recommendations?  I've never properly followed a training plan before - it's hard as I run with a club a couple of nights a week so I have to adapt plans round that.  I don't even know how long it's likely to take me - 4:30 would be reasonable I think based on my long runs for my half mara.  I don't even understand the theory behind the different types of training.  Help please???  Thanks.
