Nice to meet you lot in the Padarn, sorry I couldn't have stayed longer sounded like a good session well done to jd and Daymion you look more like rugby players than runners, SZ well done that was a good run, I think it's something about details on a social work course, I will have to check. Rou amazing, fancy giving me a tow next year? Thought we was going to get a song out of BN the way he was studying the karioke book maybe next year?
Moose hope it's not too serious, pain in the ar&*e getting a stress fracture diagnosed think it's got to be an MRI.
Got over the waivering with the Beachy Head thing and just entered for next year, try for a sub 4 again (yawn) got some numbers for accomodation in Llanberris so I don't have as far to travel to the pub.
TomS You'll get a sub 4 next year. Just come back from appointment with Neuro surgeon - MRI scan for me on Friday - suspected trapped nerve in C6-C7 area. Muscle wastage in upper left back, shoulder and upper arm. MRI scan will hopefully tell all. Never mind - entering CLWYDIAN HILLS 9m 3100 foot race - Sunday http://www.fellrunner.org.uk/2009races.htm - fancy getting off-road this weekend, I've missed it.
Looks very tempting SZ, SUN.NOV 1. CLWYDIAN HILLS. AM. 11.00 a.m. 9m/3100' from Cilcain Village Hall (GR SJ177653). £5. LK/NS. Over 18. New course. No safety pins. Post race refreshments. Always like a race with post race refreshments but got a club race on, 26th Sweatshop Through the Villages Race 8M 781yds apparently. Lancaster 1/2 mara the weekend after, but not sure if I will get a pass for that one as we fly to Goa the day after, think I'm expected to do some packing, have to get some creeping done.
I'm sure I've seen SNOD10 in the saga catalogue NG!
Are we doing agendas? This has been a pretty race-less year for one reason or another, but Brighton 10k in November is my big year-long target ... I know, I know it sounds a bit far to run for some of you, but if you fuel it right, 10k isn't too bad I've been trying to speed up this year with the aim of cracking 3 hours at Stratford next spring. If that's successful, I'm hitting the hills again and will be trying to find pubs at the end of long races.
Ay sir! Twas fixed upon the calendar this year of our lord 2009 before my crisis of faith in marathons, so I cannot avouch for it foresooth, egad, pigs bladder! Methinks it is a fast course with a small hillock.
Using zoom on the digital xray - there are a couple of hairline cracks around 2 of the 5 screws in the bottom of my tibia.... yep MRI for detail - so I'll wait until I'm back in the UK on Sat for that....
Good news though - the ortho guy suggests no main damage and rest for a week or two will sort it out so I can jog again soon.... he asked how did you compress/impact so hard - so I explained the downhill to Llanberis and he replied "well if you're going to make up stories you can get through the discomfort by making up it doesn't hurt" and laughed - top man!
Tom S - good run mate - I'll be with you on another sometime in the New Year
I fancy a flatter one some time in Jan - I have a lot of travel between now and mid December - I'll look around and see what I can find - or let me know if you have something in mind
The reason for the hoorah x3 is that I am running again. I won't bore you all to death with the tale of woe. Quite frankly, I think therer are those amongst us are getting pretty fed up with hearing about my damn achilles *composes again*
That said though, it is so much better that I do hoorah because I am putting one foot in front of the other again. Oh yes...running. There have been dark days in the last 4 months. Questions such as will I ever run again? Is there light at the end of the tunnel? And will Pulp reform for next years Glastonbury?
The answers to all those is 'yes'. So hoorah it is and may the banging continue long into the night!
