LMAO - I was wondering whether I knew you that well to enable you to comment !! And by the way - NO I HAVEN'T !! Wasn't sure if you were talking about me or Christine - how funny : )))
Goldbeetle .... Firstly, I cannot for the life begin to imagine how men have ended up on this particular forum topic...... Secondly, given the way some of these "ladies" have been discussed by you "gentlmen" I think we're entitled to have our say too. Go and find a forum of your own, you bunch of pervs and leave us to this one.... !!

who rattled your cage
your the one who runs behind blokes in thongs and gets a PW or is that not letching ?
Whilst the debate rages on about whose a slag and whose a perv, the question of why elite women run in knickers remains unanswered and as big a mystery as ever...
If it gave a critical aerodynamic or cooling advantage in racing then why don't the elite men run in something halfway between speedos and a jock strap?
No, seriously!
Come on, someone must know why elite women make this seemingly bizzare choice
I do think it's probably partly aerodynamics, partly comfort in terms of coolness and partly personal preference. There always seems to be 3 choices for the GB ladies team - the knickers, the smaller boy shorts and the slightly longer slightly higher on the hips style a la Dame Holmes. Same for crop tops or sports bra & vest - it's nice to have a choice. I dream of having a butt that wouldn't look like an overstuffed hanging basket in a pair of the smallest ones.
It's not that bizarre, you're gonna wear whatever you can to give you the edge - you don't see the tri lads in baggy shorts (at least not the ones I've been looking at ) It's more aerodynamic to wear a crop top & knickers. You have to wear a sportsbra or crop top cause you need somewhere to pin your number, and the knickers...well I guess that'd be self evident to that need. Some of the ladies do wear short-shorts instead of running knickers but I've not seen many elite ladies who wear longer shorts.
I normally go for short-shorts and my club vest, I'd wear a crop top and knickers for racing (especially in the summer), but to get one in club colours was gonna cost me £20 and I'm as tight as a fish's ar$e.
Must admit am slightly surprised by some responses, as I wouldn't have thought it was the sexiest look. (I doubt many teenage boys have posters of Paula in her running knickers on their bedroom wall, though I may be wrong.)
Or is it just some sort of programmed male response that "Woman + Not many clothes = phwoar" ?
I asked a similar question a while back because it mystifies me too. I think the little tght shorts are just as aerodynamic and way more flattering than the knickers!

If my inner thighs are exposed, they're gonna chafe as they rub together - I have rugby player's legs - lucky me : ((
TT - you tried bodyglide? I don't have the problem now, but used to when my legs were much bigger, bodyglide is pretty good
