It was my first time running it last year and I did not have a clue where I was running even though I have lived down here for a few years, I also managed to smash the mug within the first week!
I did 5.5 miles yesterday, was not as cold as I thought. And on a different subject I heard from the Open University yesterday that I have passed my degree
Well done Zoe! Excellent stuff. We had our club handicap run on Saturday...managed 39"58 but won't count getting a sub-40 until it's in a proper affilliated race. Been a good few days running wise for me as I also managed to get a ballot place for the London Marathon via the club...my running plans are going to have to change somewhat next year now.
Cheers Squall! To be honest, it's not sunk in that im doing it yet! The training for it will start in mid January and i'll see how it goes! I probably won't go for any particular time just aim to get round...would be nice to get around 3 hours 30 though! We shall see! Hows the training going for Stubbington? Are you picking your fitness back up quite quickly or is it taking time?
Im in Arnhem in Holland until Tuesday and it's currently -8 degrees here with snow everywhere! I don't think I will be doing any running until at least Wednesday next week now..I guess I will just use this break as my last mini break from training before really going for it in getting ready for Stubbington...my worry is though that I will put on a fair bit of weight over Christmas....my appetite is big enough as it is let alone at this time of year!
lmao! Well I did manage to do some sort of backflip onto the ice today and have managed to bruise my back a bit! It's been treacherous and colder even compared to going skiing in Austria in January! So can't even walk out here let alone run! Defo a bridge too far to try running lol!
Your lucky there Squall. We had about 5 inch of snow yesterday on top of what was already there, and the gym was shut all day as well! Had to make do with the bike watching a dvd. Bloody hate bikes.
Good stuff there though Squall, no pain or nothing?
Did a 2 hour treadmill run this morning just over 15m, was a wierd exierience, just the pt s were in there for the first hour or so! God, i cant wait for this snow and ice to go!
I have a question, what do people regard a LSR as, a hard or easy day?
Yeah i guess, while the legs feel abit achey for a while, by evening they feel fine. Did 8m on tread this morning, 1hr easy. The snow is finally starting to melt so might go and do one of the park runs saturday morning.
So whats your target at Stubbington Squall? Your fitness seems to be coming back pretty quick!
I'd like to be around 41 minutes... but we'll see! I'll just crack on and see what happens. On course for another 30+ mile week this week... so I'll see what I manage in the next fortnight.

Cheers Squall, nice to have hit a target, had a rest day today but I'll be back on it tomorrow.
Enjoy your New Years Day swim! I've been know to take a dip in the North Sea in the middle of winter... bracing is the word!
5 miles tues... 4 miles yest... 4 miles today.
Things are looking up
No problems at all... slightly stiff thighs this morning, but i've eased that out with a gentle 5k!
30 miles total for the week... happy with that.
What should I be aiming for next week? 35? 40?
Okie doke. I'll hold 30/week for the rest of December... then look at moving up in the new year.
Stubbington 10k should be a good guage of my fitness... I'll probably run it by feel then see what time I end up with.
Good to see your back Squall!
Finally got to race a 10k yesterday and got my sub 40, wanted to be a little farther along by now but the joys of injury.
So what exactly is the course like at Stubbington? Everyone says its quick if conditions are good, is that right?
Good work!
Stubbington seems to change course every year! The last one I did was good.

It's bloody icy here... been doing some in the gym.
Yesterday on the treadmill:
1 mile warmup at 7.1mph
5 x 1000m w/60 sec rest at 10mph
1 mile warmdown at 7.1mph
Hard stuff....
