Rest day for me three. Exactly the same as LB though, have to get the house tip top as it's Jack's birthday on Saturday and will have a house full of people who I'd be embarrassed to invite in in it's current state. I'm doing canny so far. Think I'll hide everything in the play room and lock the door image.

Andy - yes, afraid it's not looking too good on the weather front. It's not even necessarily that there are puddles (some are deep and unavoidable), it's that the water is cold! Coold feet is no good for a marathon. Don't know if you currently use anything to prevent blisters, but perhaps copious amounts of vaseline may be worth a shot (I don't usually use anything and find my feet slide if I do!)
I've done a couple of wet marathons, but nothing like what appears to be the paddy fields on Town Moor, sorry I just don't know what to suggest.
  • No, I meant for you. I usually don't bother with anything and so far haven't had any problems with my feet, touch wood. Besides, I'm only watching on Sunday image.
  • I'll be taking two pairs of shoes, one newish pair (80 miles), and one old pair (600 miles), and just have a look at the state of the ground. May start with a t-shirt over top of a vest and throw it to one side after end of 1st lap, if someone would look after it for me.
  • I think my brand new, only worn for 14 miles, kept specially for the marathon shoes will be staying in the box!

Rest day for me as well. I'm packing. Eeek! No time tomorrow night and I'm driving up straight from a half day at work on friday afternoon.

Morning all, rest day for me today. First non-running day since 27th October.
Still 4 hrs 47 mins to change your mind, andy
  • After 2,230 miles so far this year, a day off won't do me any harm.

  • Went out to watch 2012 earlier, thought it was about the Olympics ?   image.

Decent action film I guess, realised it was over 2 years since I'd been, last film I am Legend.

  • Don't go getting yourself too worried about the apocalypse andy ... I recommend a disney film next ...

  • It'd be just my luck for the world to end on April 24th 2010.image
  • Polished off with fish chips mushy peas and a can of shandy.
  • I am s**te at FIFA10, think I've lost about 20 games on the bounce.
  • Well you can't be good at everything ya know image
  • Morning happy campers.

I think I might be officially a nutcase. Starting to get genuinely upset when I see all these bloody runners forcing their way down the road when its blowing a hooley and p*ssing down. I want to be out there getting wet and blown about like they are!

Check on SF next week and I shall hopefully then get tossed about like a good un.image

  • I meant to ask the other day, what is SF
  • Shipping Forecast? Andy - if you play Fifa 10 on the 360, I'll give you a game image

You have almost identical PB's to me for all distances up to the marathon - where I lag 6 minutes behind you, but had targeted 2.48 for London this year.  I would be really interested to know what training schedule you followed for Paris to hit your 2.48?

    Current PB's:

    5k     16.46

    10k    35.36

    10m   58.40

    HM    1.18.07

    Mara  2.53.37

    Any advice much appreciated!

  • SF = stress fracture I believe.

    Hows it feeling now LB?

No running for me now till Sunday, got past the feeling sick phase, now I just feel excited and determined.

  • Much better thanks Vicki!

I'm afraid as boring and as irritating as it sounds, RICE works on stress fractures.

That's the acronym - not a bag of long grain...image

No real schedule mate, just absolutely knocked my pan out. In fairness Paris wasn't the target race London was but felt so good on the day that it was daft not to push on. I think I only missed 4 or 5 days running prior to Paris, and from 1st January my first day off was 3rd March !
  • Great interval session this afternoon.

5 min warm up at 7:10 ish
    30 mins hard intervals
5 min warm down at 7:10

6 and a bit miles in 40 mins, ready to take on that Town Moor now, unless it's underwater.

  • The weather is looking fairly pants for you all running newcastle at the weekend.

I don't envy you running 26 miles in rain and wind while you're splashing through mud and puddles  image

Metcheck = 8 deg, cloud, rain and winds of 22mph gusting to 26.

I'll cheer you on from my nice warm sofa!! image

Liverbird, I must have missed you were suffering a stress fracture. What happened?

  • I ran 26 miles in tight shoosies WTS.

I am terminally stoopid at times.....image

Now I need someone to tell me where to get these elastic laces from that Cougie was going on about!

  • Ouch!!

I see you have tried RICE on your injury, have you tried WINE (substitute your preferred version of anti-oxidants here!) image

  • Apart from the Town Moor madness is anyone else racing this weekend ?

I slapped a bag of Pilau on it WTS and it seemed to make it worse....image

The cheeky shiraz is slipping down a treat though! image

  • Red wine is good for you, neck it  image
  • I'm on a nice bottle too...Hobgoblin...it's a right drop
  • I'd be 7 stone if it wasn't for the wine...image

  • I might be under 12 if not for the beer and pie.
