Winter running in Leicestershire

I am a new runner entering his first winter, and am trying to find somewhere safe to run in the dark (e.g. a track) somewhere near Leicester or Lutterworth.

Any kind person have any suggestions?

Can you not find a route with a pavement even if that means running lots of loops of a housing estate ?

I tend to stick within the town during winter where it's fairly well illuminated. Alternatively if its not too dark, off-road routes offer a safe refuge from cars.
