I get awful awful vertigo. If I'm at heights, my knees go weak, I sweat profusely, I feel sick, I get a headache and I have to get away as fast as possible. It's a real 100 per cent phobia. It's hard to explain to people, but it's not so much the fear of falling as the fear that you're going to throw yourself over the edge. I can't even bear to see my kids go up to heights when I'm safe down below: can't look.
damn, work firewall is blocking the link! Will have to look at home and report back as to whether it made me sick with vertigo or not (hopefully not, as I love heights me )
Hoose, that would be a preferable way to die. Only just, mind. I think what I'd really like is to die crossing the line in first place at my local Parkrun, but that ain't gonna happen. I might die coming in 43rd, though.
There's something I just don't like about Ms Friel. Shameless self-promotion I think is one of them. I have the unaccountable hots for German actress Julia Jentsch, who played Sophie Scholl in the film of the same name. Woof woof.
I'd go on the roof but I wouldn't go too close to the end.
I like being high up and I'll throw myself down anything on a bike or pair of skis. I've even done a few big abseils, but I can't jump off of things. I was away in the summer and the group I was with were jumping off of rocks into rivers. Probably only 4 or 5 meters and it took me a good 10 mins before I could do it. They were all in their 20s. At my age, you worry about your insurance etc
I'm not afraid of heights, but I don't like walking down steep hills and I have a slight phobia of down escalators, I have to hold on with both hands when I get on.

Erm, I think I'll pass...
Why??? why would you want to be that high??? I have the same feeling that Peter does (not the Anna Friel thing). Makes me feel so sick.
Is there nothing to stop them falling over the edge??? like a bluddy great big fence???

That's nothing
let me find some photo's of solo climber Catherine Desteville.
That's solo, as in no ropes. Not as in elevation.
(can't find the image I was looking for, but this is close)

Oh did anyone see that channel 4 program about daredevils? They had a similar nutter on that.
Nope, in my view you are scared of heights of a reason and I am happy keeping away from them
I watched that SS - it made my insides go all wiggly - and not in a good way!!
Here's the dude
yep that is the nutter. oh, how does he do that
and the dude who did the flying thing OMG, here comes lunch just thinking about it.
Amazing bod though
oh yuk! I'm terrified oh heights - doesn't really make me feel sick but my feet go all funny
has anyone ever tried to cure their fear? I just avoid situations, but it's a nuisance really
I'm sure you do Peter
Of course picture evidence will be required to validate your claim.
