yip FF - but it wont matter what part of the day you do the miles. Could do it very late of very early or at night. 2 peops could split the run. A peop/s is given a stretch a day -up to them when.
as long as baton is passed on at given point at end for next days peop it dont matter.
Just been on map my run and depending on how strict you want to be on 'coast', from my front door, the centre of southport is 40 MILES away!! Pretty much EXACTLY!!
If you had a GPS baton, once the run was complete, or whilst still being run, you could download the data as it comes in to create a runners map of Britain, think it would look good - like one of those Blue Peter fund raiser tubes they used to have that fill up the more milk bottle tops you sent in. Good publicity gimick. But to do that it would have to be run in a linear fashion, not simultainious.
great Cake -current thinking is a day or two per leg and exact date you will do your bit will depend when and where we start/finish- so chances are it is unlikely to clash. We need about 100 of us to do it like that (under 50 miles each) . Once we have about 100 and all regions are covered we can agree that. Some baton with a list inside so we can sign it before it is passed on.

Hoose -North Wales-Liverpool (ish)
Paul Williams Liverpool- ?
Cake - Yorkshire coast past Humber down to Suffock depending on what other nutter's what to do the east side and dates.
If we can get enough interest in all areas (perhaps identified as between major coastal towns) and then we can fill gaps. For example, Mid wales to North West strip, South Wales to Mid wales, Mid East coast to south East, etc -you know what I mean.
once that is done each area can put a thead up on events . Once all are done - dates can be co-ordinated between us
as for start/finish -I was thinking Brighton to Brighton or Blackpool to Blackpool
Its a great idea and could be a lot of fun if it was properly organised.. I'm in the South East and could do some Kent/Sussex miles.. there are quite a few of us in this area so the task could be shared out if there is enough interest.. why not mention this on the ultra forum page, if you haven't done so already..?
I could do but scared of going on there. If we get enough in each area it would mean greater flexibily for runners. No hard limits only certain pick up points at start/end each week. Each area can interact with one before and one after so runs smooth. Basically it will be shifting "Barry The Baton around Britain"
I would be intrested North East Coast of Scotland for me.
Based in Aberdeen so Peterhead to Dundee type thing for me.
Would all be down to timing though as have the year mapped out with seven ultras and lots of training weekends planned in the hills, but happy to do a couple of fifty or so mile days on a free weekend.

perhaps over 3 months in early or late summer i would say. Of course 1 st will be 3 months before last.
Gotta have a starting / finish point too to be decided.

we can get round it cant we?
that has to be thought of GP- fellow forumites may want to keep tracks etc. Good have a tracking thingy we pass on.
could be trust but if we get charity and/or RW involved peops may have some better ideas.
