Who Admits To Being A Club Tart?

Club Tart - Someone who keeps changing their club.

How many clubs have you belonged to?

And what is your excuse for all the swapping?

  • I have never belonged to a club and have no desire to either... so... what does that make me...??

Club Monogamous...?  No that would suggest I stick to one club.....  image

    Club Celibate?? image

    Club Frigid? image

  • i used to sort of train with a club, i went occasionally just to train with other people rather than alone, but never really trained properly or joined in socially. i've just started running with a club and hopefully i'll 'participate' more as it seems a very friendly club.
  • no running clubs but was a judo club tart as a kid-lol and general tart later onimage

    Club Virgin??
  • Ooh  - that's me me and Nam virgins!image
  • Now there's a thought I won't forget in a hurry.  image
  • I'm not a member of any running/athletics club (keep getting asked to join  http://www.wakefield-harriers.co.uk/  though)

But, I have been a member of the same Cycling club  http://www.featherstoneroadclub.co.uk/  for approaching 20 years!

'Up to press', I have entered all of my running events (be they road, fell, or XC) in their name, & worn a Club jersey (or if warm a t-shirt with the Club name on the front & shoulders)

  • Another club virgin too here.

Maybe I've misinterpreted the OP, but I don't get the inference that once you've joined a club, you're tied to it for life.  Is there some sort of blood brother ritual when you join?  Surely you join a club for you, so if it doesn't suit, there is no problem with changing to one that does.

I think the word you are looking for is unclubbable image
  • Can change running clubs so long as you've advised your club and they in turn advise england athletic. Tis true which you can check as i was club sec when a member of our club wanted to joion another and i had to deal with the paperwork.
  • I was a member of a club for a couple of years, but I didn't do anything much with them. They were way too fast for me, even the beginnersimage I will give it another try now that I've been out and about more than I used to be.

  • In my own case, I have only belonged to the one AC.

I have seen a lot of Club Tarts passing through.

Folks who join us for the training, then move on to others for a better social sceen, or a change of style.

Some have joint membership, What does that make them?

  • I've always been very loyal to my clubs, only been a member of 4 different ones in over 50 years. I left my first, Mitcham AC, when I quit track for orienteering, joined Mole Valley and only left them when OH and I moved to Germany. Joined the local athletic club and stayed with them 16 years until work forced a move nearly 300km away. Current club is a triathlon one, absolutely wonderful people and a superb coach. Have no plans to ever leave.

    I'll admit though, I have 'toyed with the idea' of applying for membership of the 'Bingley Harriers',as they run two of my favourite events;

    http://www.bingleyharriers.co.uk/index.htm

The 'Harriers verses Cyclists' (rode it in 2007/2008, & run it in 2009), & the 'Bingley Show Trail-Race' (only 3 miles/450feet, but straight UP, & straight back down)

Upon e-mailing to enquire, they also tell me that being 'local' isn't a requirement, as it seems that they even have overseas members!!
