Rain or sleet doesn't bother me to be honest. I'm more concerned about the wind blowing across the water and pushing me backwards the whole time! Did a half marathon in MK last year where we ran around a small lake and the gale that blew across the water was rubbish; slightly windy elsewhere on the course, but come the lake enough to bugger up my target time.
The man on autumnwatch that did the weather last night had big wind arrows on his chart. Looked like a cyclone to be frank!! All this without even taking onboard that I've been extremely windy myself this week for some reason (the wife woke up during the night Thursday and said I was trumpeting away like a trooper in my sleep).
Having got increasingly paranoid about what travelling up on the day would do to my race prep I've booked myself into a local(ish) pubhotel for the Saturday night.
As for the weather - BBC now reckons cold but not wet or windy which will do me fine.
are there any first timers apart from me and how are you feeling?
Yep. Aprehensive. Looking at anything 4h30m-5h0m. Training hasn't all gone to plan but I'll finish. I'll put my number up here tonight when I get home.
I'll look out of the window in the morning for my forecast.
Similar sort of pace... except for my early morning drive there! 0615 depart.
Met office weather looks cracking for tomorrow.
0600 partly cloudy 5 °C NNE 8 mph 18 mph Good 0900 sunny 5 °C N 6 mph Moderate 1200 sunny intervals 7 °C N 7 mph Good 1500 sunny intervals 7 °C NW 2 mph Good
I'm # 672 - setting off in an hour, hoping to have a lazy day and a quick look at the course. Best of luck for all tomorrow, and let's hope the forecast stays good! Hope all you first timers have a marvellous run.
my second one so and I am aiming for sub 4 but not sure on what to wear
I have always run in shorts and t-shirt but a couple of weeks ago I ventured into Aldi and got myself a long sleeved compression top and some running trousers. Have tried the top under my normal running shirt on a couple of early morning runs and I was pleasantly suprised how it felt. Haven't tried the trousers yet but I'll be taking them along and just seeing how 'fresh' it feels.
See you all there in the morning - hopefully dry and still so make for a pleasant sunady morning !!
Only race in shorts and to be honest there's only been one day so far that has seen me training in capri's and a long sleeve top. As I'm 'racing' it will probably be club vest and shorts with gloves at the start and a buff. May wear a t-shirt under the vest if it's really cold but that doesn't look likely from the forecast.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
shorts and club vest for me... will take a hat and gloves in case, but gloves = problems with opening gels so may just stick with the hat... i always find wearing a t-shirt under my vest or a comp top, is that its ok for the first few miles but then i tend to over heat ! it aint going to be that cold and will soon warm up once youve ran 5 + miles !

Looks like it could be a bit chilly!
I prefer cold for running
And as me old man always says to me "stop moaning, you won't rust"
I may need a little more than a crop top
Met Office has a better forecast.
That not only looks picturesque it looks nicely flat.
That's the flat bit at the end of the Hambleton peninsula - you'll be seeing it twice...
BBC says sunny!

Not sure I'm ready for this but what the heck !!
I'll be driving over in the morning (6:30 start) so my weather forecast will be a look out of the window
If its dry and not windy then that'll do for me otherwise I'll be looking for some big bloke to plod behind to shield me from the elements
I'll be the one that looks like I need to stop after about 100yds (#798)
I need to leave about 0530 I think .... not a vast journey but half the time will be getting to the A1 !
Not a chance, race brekkie in the car on the way up !!

Hi John
I'm number 798 so say hi if you see me shivering (I'll be carrying the pink water bottle - I'm in touch with my feminine side)
Should be in pirate kit - number of layers weather dependant
Marathon number 16 for me (hopefully!!)
