Sandy Denny - Who Knows Where The Time Goes?
More poignant because of how she passed on.

Apologies for taking the thread "off topic",but I bellieve Sandy Denny and Dusty Springfield are the best ever female British ,non classical,singers.
Very different : one genuinely soulful and the other with a perfect folk delivery ,but both absolutely stunning vocalists.
And both could really sing sad songs-as already mentioned "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" is simply one of the best vocal performances ever captured on record.
Another great sad song I forgot to mention earlier-and it has particular resonance with the looming recession-"Paralysed" by the Gang of Four.
'The Drugs Don't Work' does it for me too.
So does 'He 'Aint Heavy, He's My Brother' - it really wouldn't if there weren't personal reasons and I guess that says a lot about music.

For no particular reason "Daniel" by Elton John always gets me.

The man can't half tell a story.
I watch the sunrise (religious hymn ) but it gets me EVERYTIME. I can't go 30 seconds into the song without crying.
I need you (daniel o donnell) I KNOW its Daniel O Donnell and I should be shot for posting this lol but it was my Mums song she always used at parties if she was asked to sing and it was her parting song at her funeral ..... I can't actually bring myself to listen to it anymore. I didn't realise it was on my ITUNES and one day when running it came on as I had shuffle set....Stopped me dead in my tracks and I walked the rest of the way home
.... there is something just so lovely about the song, like it was written for her and my Dad, I have never known two people more in love than they were. Life sucks sometimes.
Another one is Better in Time,(Leona) I read the words differently to how someone else might see them.
Footprints in the Sand is a sad one!
