thanks for the ride all - good to put some faces to names! sorry i had to disappear so rapido....just have to finish getting ready then shooting straight off to le BBQ madness!
Missed the delights of cake and singing, but did take my not so little guy for a ride on the MTB down to the park, and pushed him on the swings. Is that cross training ?
i finished up with 66 miles and topped it off with a 45 minute run........... sorry to run off and leave you all before the end but theHobbits singing was driving me even further over the edge than I am normally.......
There was singing and whistling and road rage and, up till the time I quit, just the one puncture and I didnt see a single faling off
I'm gonna stick to swimming and running after that
But it was a good, if a little above my hillclimbing ability, ride. Can't wait till the longer summer version
I realised i can drop like a stone and clocked 43.1 miles/hrs going down river hill. Unfortunateley I ride up hill like a brick..........I said brick Mr Smith
Plum, i thought I felt a slight incline around about Yorks but that may have been my mind playing tricks what with Donald disappearing into the distance while eerily seeming to be making no extra effort
It was great to meet everyone and Im very, very glad I didn't chicken out of coming along because I genuinely thought it would be out of my ability range. This has given me a great deal of confidence.
Cheers Barley for the lift.
Thanks Smithy for organising it and happy birthday.
top ride - thanks for the hospitality & really nice to meet you all, Great choice of hills Mr Smith. Shame I had to bail but i hope you all enjoyed Star Hill. Hope to run into some/all/more of you over the season.
lol meldy! my alarm clock changes itself so i have to set it an hour earlier just in case it doesnt change itself and leave a watch beside the bed so i can verify time.
i repeat others sentiments - cheers for the ride smiffy!
i am not envious of those running 20 miles tomorrow..i shall be pootling to and around the 10k course tomorrow at my friends pace then may run by myself later. legs were feeling ok but they are starting to ache in a gentle sort of way now..
oh dear! well it turned out that my alarm clock didnt reset itself, but i woke up at 7.45 anyway! (a lie in!) hope everyone enjoys todays training/racing - cant say i fancy another 100k on the bike myself!
Small favour to ask of anyone who had their GPS with them...(plum?!)
Can you please send me the gpx of the route we took please? I set my Garmin to record each second so it over wrote the first hour or so if the ride PM me for my email if required.
On the plus side I can't see how slow I was up Toys Hill!
I have a pair of sunglasses, a pac 'a' mac and a pot of Garnier Manga hair styling gel all left here by various people so will the person with the squint, the person who got wet in the rain today and the gay person let me know who you are.
What a splendid day that was, I hope everyone got something from it, everyone did very well indeed. I suffered (as I said I would) and finally blew up on Star hill and was dropped like a bag of coke down the bog in a police raid!
Nice to meet some new people and also a couple of the old ones. And a big thanks to Duncan for helping keep the ride together, I would not have been able to keep the front guys going in the right direction and stopped the peeps at the back getting lost without you
It is good to know Mouldy and AJH know their place and did not utter one word of objection when I told them to go back via a short cut and get the tea ready, was a bit concerned though when TG wanted to go with them.
I'm blaming them for being four minutes over three hours for my 21 miler today....Obviously nothing to do with ride yesterday and the fact my calfs were screaming at me for the first hours.
Comments

It would have been nice to get to a hill though
One very brave Tripetalker in amongst the black and yellow, good to meet those that I havent before and nearly as good to see those that I have
Fed and showered and ready for tomorrows nice and flat 100k
I dont suppose "nearly as good to see those that I have" could possibly apply to me though would it.
I'm gonna stick to swimming and running after that

Prob won't do anything tomorrow, but the LAST thing I would think about doing was a 21 miler!
Thanks Smiffy for the organisation, good fun in a sadistic way. Good to put some faces to some more pirate names.
I may be doing my hair next time, though I seem to have some unfinished business with Yorks Hill
