Elizabeth, calm down dear! This is going to be FUN! Just start off nice & slow & do your own thing. Last year I'd broken my ankle in the July & never thought I'd get round. I just plodded round & had a nice time & was fine & dandy. I was last for ages, but loads of people went off too fast, so I ended up beating about 15 people. So there are plenty of us slow buggers around! (43 year old bimbling female here!!)
Nothing wrong with the back Griffsters. It's my usual place & it's less frantic there!
Just popped in to say good luck to all you oop northers for this weekend. I look forward to hearing the reports and hope you all have fun.
PS I have selfish reasons for wanting you to all have fun as I've entered the south one on the basis that I've never heard of anyone not enjoying it by the end.
The weather forecast says it will -2 degrees at the night between Saturday and Sunday and then 5degrees at lunchtime so the bogs will be coooooold! The fast runners might need to break some ice sheets to get through!!!
I also have a cold and feel a bit weak but I am so looking forward to it anyway.
I went running along the trails at Alderley Edge through the forest today, which is very like Delamere. It was lovely. The leaves were coming off the trees, & the colours were all autumny. It will be a nice run on Sunday. Frost might stop it being so slippy, as it was slippy with leaves & mud at Alderley.
Say hi if anyone sees me on Sunday. Blonde bird with a red Saab Turbo X technical t-shirt. I'm in the morning race.
I'm in the afternoon race so the mud will have been churned up nicely by all the morning people .
I am giving serious thought to doing this in costume, I have a lightweight (i.e. cheap) grim reaper robe and hood, and the wife is pretty neat with the skull make-up.
I will make sure i stay near the back to 'collect' any stragglers
I thought since i'm not fast enough to be near the front and avoid the bottlenecks i may as well have some fun at the back. You never know it may spur someone onto a PB if they see the Grim Reaper running after them in the woods.
I was disappointed more people didn't dress up last year. Hope more do this year. I'm tempted by a pink tutu in the pound shop....but really want to try & go fast this year, so don't want anything getting in my way.

Ok...and breeeeathe......I have never ever run this far so i most def will be at the back!
Next question - what's good to wear? shorts or running tights? baselayer or singlet?
Thanks oh wise runners from hell who are all a bit mad!
I am also heartened by this quote:
"If you can do 7.5miles you will easy complete the course, everyone encourages each other. I have done it twice before and am doing this years even though for the past 2months I have only been out 2 or 3 times a week and nothing further than 4miles!"
Elizabeth, anything you wear on your lower half (and maybe even on the upper) will end up soaked.
In my experience, wet running tights are no fun to wear, so for Hellrunner I wear shorts - and stick embrocation on my legs to help ward off the cold.
Your forearms are also likely to get wet, so you might prefer something short-sleeved.
That said, this year I'm thinking of wearing a technical tee over a long-sleeved base, but rolling up the base arms as necessary (it's really for the colour - I happen to have both items in red, so they should complement my horns and sawn-off trident!).

Is it me or does the tag look a bit flimsy to stay on. The chip is glued onto a bit of paper for god sake!
Hi Soup!
I think a lot of people will be losing their chip. Maybe shoving it under a sock will help....Or gaffer taping it to your ankle!!
I'm hoping that the rain we have had today doesnt carry on for the rest of the week! its gonna be flooded round there
Just had a check of the 5 day forecast and the outlook isnt good.
Rain everyday except Saturday. Hmmmm
Feeling a bit better now and looking forward to it ! I think I will be bimbling at the back taking in the views
and trying to have fun with all the other plodders.
I'm not too bad at swimming which may be helpful ha ha !
I agree that the chip and numbers look a bit flimsy hopefully they have been tried and tested and
will stay on.
BRING IT ON
My number has just landed on the door mat whoo hoo I'm in
Not planning to, Barry is at Stu's atm Bruce asked the same question, I'm with you anyway I'd be worried of loosing him .
Nice one, post before 12, wow, lucky you!
Might see you there then, I'll give you a text if I'm there in good time.

Cheers BB,

I was thinking of a Jekyll and Hyde type outfit, start out as a clean, fresh-faced athlete (I wish!) and finish as a mud-covered, bdraggled wreck!
Are you parkrunning this week BB, have you managed BMF yet?
