Yeah, well done everyone, once again I've learnt some more valuable lessons for marathon attempt number 3 and I'm sure so have some of you.
Firstly I need to do some of the LSR's at the same time of day that I'm expected to race. It's nice and cool in the morning and the body doesn't have to cope with the extra heat from a warm sun. It has certainly had a hand in both of my marathon performances to date.
Secondly, more time on my feet which means slowing down some of the LSR's so they get use to running for 4 hrs plus. My longest run time was 3hrs 21, but the physcological side effects of reaching 20 miles after that length of time knowing there's at least another 60mins to go was murder.
Thirdly, no gels in a race, ever again. My stomach was doing gymnastics after one gel and I didn't get that in training. May just have to carry SIS in liquid form in future.
So next on the cards will hopefully be Berlin 2011 as I'm sure Mr Branson won't let me run his little race so plenty of time to get some base training in.
My first experience of Nottingham running event and it was a well organised race/run with excellent support around the park area
Only did the half and found it HILLY ! not undulating , i normally do the great north and i would call that undulating but the heat did not help. just from a personal point of view i would have liked another water station inserted into the route . Due the heat i was sweating buckets.
however i did manage to shave just over a minute off my best which now stands at 1hr 35
Me probably. Do this one every year as the most local marafun. Going to have to think long and hard about it through as IMR the month before. Had no real problems yesterday but still didn't do well because was to close to outlaw but assuming by may next year just going to say feck it.
One of my mates ran the Kilomathon from Notts to T'Derby last year, its in March and is a 16 miler - have you ever done that one? Longest I have ever raced is the Half! Sounds like a good local challenge though!
Haha that's how they get you Richard - I purchased one once after my York 10k, was not that pleased with the overall quality though I must say - having said that its a lovely memento to have
Well done Garry, and congrats on your trainer throwing victory! Well done Alison and Hot Tub, which ultra are you doing on Saturday, good luck with it.
My thighs are a bit stiff today but they're not too bad and they have eased since this morning. Just looked at my photos, I look as bad as I usually do, I'm so unphotogenic!
Yesterday was my first full Marathon (I haven't even attempted a half marathon!) I was determined to beat 4 hours and managed 3 hours 55 minutes but it wasn't easy! And my legs and feet ache now. Who would have thought that walking downstairs could be so difficult!
A big thank you to everyone involved yesterday. I honestly believe the people of Nottingham who turned out to cheer on the competitors managed to spur me on to crack that 4 hour mark. So a big thank you to you guys as well.
I hope everyone else is ok and there were no serious injuries.
I ache all over. I left work early as well, because I kept feeling faint/dizzy. Knew I should have booked the day off. Oh well, the soreness/aches should be gone in a couple of days.
a run?! o my god! my legs are going to drop off! im not very experienced at these races though. i think i was meantt o have a cold bath yesterday but just couldn't race it! good on you for getting back out there, i might try on wednesday are you in gnr next week?

I did do a lot of gentle stretching and was in car park B which was quite a walk from the start!
i'm really chuffed with mine, all of them are good, tempted to buy them.
