  • Barcelone hey? Wow! I'm thinking of the 'Kilomathon' which nest year (in March) goes from Derby to Nottingham - it's a 16 miler! Has anyone done this before?

Cake - First run in the 'skins' I purchased last week! I have the full leg ones. Just did an easyish (was pushing my son after all!) 3.5miler image

Still wanna hear the info from your sis tho to see if I've wasted my cash or not!!....
  • Hi gang just back from Newcastle paced my wife round the GNR and she beet me over the line by 1 second image in 2.12.23 had too walk a bit when here knee went but things went OK realy was triped twice but never fell thanks to beeing able to move my legs faster to keep balance all in all though it was a great day toped off by having a beer in the main  tent and waching  white van man and the gaslighters play

The hotel we stopped at was the pits our room was right above a disco and the bed was shaking till 3am the bathroom was a joke with tiles coming off around  the bath and the shower took what sempt like 20 minuets to warm up will never stay there again

  • Foo - tell us what hotel so we know NEVER to go there!!
  • Well done on the Great North Run Foofighter, sorry to hear about your hotel.

Malakite, I did the kilomathon this year.  It went from Nottingham to Derby this year, think it's been reversed next year?  It was well organised with buses from the city centre to the start, and for spectators to get to the end, and then everyone back to the city.  It was a good route, I enjoyed it.  Think there was a bit of an issue at the start where they made everyone get in pens quite early to wait for the off and it was a pretty cold day, so not best ever.  However, I ignored them as I was queuing for the loos and just joined them at the last minute, so it was avoidable!  I'm going to Edinburgh in a couple of weeks to do the kilomathon there.

  • I've entered Malakite, Supposed to be great last year, and a decent bit of tin.
  • Well done Foo! Very similar time to what I dragged, sorry, helped my wife to in Sheff half last year! Doubt she`ll beat it next year as we`re `expecting` in February!

  • hey - id recommend kilomahon it was good fun last year but i did get stuck in the loo queue!
my kness still feel quite sore - its like ive pulled a tendon behind it. even walking for too long makes it sore. does anyone have any tips for making this better? its not swollen so i dont think ice will help. i want to go for run image !!

  • First run last night, everythings fine – although I can tell I’ve been training for distance not speed. Good on all of you who trained or ran over the weekend. I stuck to my plan and took the family off to Blackpool. Unfortunately nature conspired on us twice, raining all weekend and giving my eldest (9) a bug which saw him throwing up with alarming regularity.

Curiosity got the better of me, with the discrepancy of 800+ runners , looking at the entries and finishers. So I sent an email to the organisers. Apparantly we had 32 more full entries at the start than finished. So 777 no shows.

  • Thats an awfully large number!
  • I count those 777 no-shows as another 777 I finished ahead of! Getting to the start line `fit` is almost as tough as running the 26.2 imo!
  • Couldn't agree more ET, getting there fit and ready is the biggest battle
  • Right if I'm around Im definitely going to do the Kilomathon next year then image

Still waiting on Mr Cake's analysis on these Skins products!........ image
  • Anyone else running Axholme next weekend?
  • nah, doing a local 5 miler this Sunday tho <img />
  • HI not been around for a bit but just red back

The name of the hotel was the rex in whitely bay if i do the GNR next year will not be going here

  • Two weeks post race now and the recovery seems to have gone well. I've got my first off road race on Sunday, a short little 4 miler which will hopefully be fun.

I'd just like to say, it's been a pleasure to share the journey to RHM with you all. I hope you got as much out of the training and the race as I did and wish you well in whatever you decide to target next.

So, when's the London reject Stratford Marathon thread starting?

  • Cheers Colin. I`m also doing my first race since. I`m running the half at Axholme. I was hoping to challenge PB but I think I may have underestimated recovery. I pushed hard on a 10 mile run on Sunday and felt like my head gasket had blown I felt that bad after it. Worse than some of my 19 mile runs!
