ha ha yes I'll be taking out my new camera so hopefully the battery will survive to capture some of the race. Standings will be listed on the main MdS website if you want to keep an open eye its at:
The ACC seems such a long time ago now. Its a year to the day since I started my first multiday at the Jurassic Coastal Challenge...incredible memories and more to come I suspect!
Alot - it is over priced IMHO. Entry in total cost me about £3500 which is paid in installments over the couple of years building up to it. Its manageable but for what you get its alot. There are other events out there which are cheaper. I keep hearing great things about the Gobi challenge now.
Of course on top of the entry is the kit/build up events etc etc. Kit does get quite expensive as you need to keep the weight down but again I slowly bought this over the course of the two years training.
I think if you really really want to do it, and you give yourself some time to pay its doable. I don't earn huge wads of money but I've made it....well nearly....to the start line.
All the very best BP - you'll be flying out on my birthday so I'll try and remember to raise a glass to you. Have you planned any events for afterwards?
Nothing planned at the mo. I'm hoping to do Beachy Head again this autumn as it remains my fave marathon. 2012 I'll probably think about some multi days again. I really want to do the Round the Island race but probably not this year!
Good luck from me too This is a pipe dream of mine but I doubt I'll ever do it. It's on the bucket list though so who knows. HUGE admiration for all those that do it. Amazing mind, body and spirit
I'll certainly drop in when I get back. If you are interested I've been keeping a blog during my training since I signed up in 2008! You can have a little look here
Just to say I'm back having successfully completed the MdS on Saturday. Wow it was really really tough and we experienced the longest, hardest, hotest course ever. Temps got up to 54 degrees on a couple of the stages. it really does test you this one. I'm immensely proud to have finished but the fatigue has truly hit me today so I'm just off for yet another nap! More details to follow once I wake up again.
oh no FB I'm not going there! I am planning on doing some cycling for the next few months though to give the legs a break and then in the autumn I'll think about the next big challenge...possibly Gobi in 2013 if the coffers will stretch to it.
Back in the office today which is utterly hideous. Talk about crashing down to reality! Still super tired and eating anything within grabbing distance. Hoping to get my photos up tonight so I'll drop you a line with the link when they are done. This time last week I was starting on the long day....makes me feel quite nauseus just thinking about it!
Right - photos are up on photo bucket now. Be prepared - there are some rather nasty ones of my feet on there taken after the Long Day/Night/Morning...

One factor that might put a crimp on many peoples dream of running the MDS is the cost.
How much disposable income do you need to realistically attempt it?

Thanks Bear - and Happy Birthday in advance!

Eurosport usually have a 1hr special at some point in the week following the race
I think eurosport 2 are doing a daily update but I haven't looked on the planner to see if its on.
....I suspect the camera's will have switched off by the time I crawl across the line!
