Debbo - I was 13 sims slower on Sunday but felt 100% better! That will be the training a weightloss then!!
I have been thinking a lot about targets/expectations etc.
I was happy with the swim - really pleased to be under 1:40.
I was a bit disappointed with bike time - I wanted to be be 7 - 7:15 (I was 7:35).Don't know how much of that was conditions and how much was taking it easy or not being up to it.
I was happy with my run time, at the time. It's only with hindsight that I know I could have gone a bit faster. 4:1 r/w all the way and felt strong and able to run the last 5k. BUT didn't know I would feel that good towards the end until I was there.
Goose is all fired up and has just come back from a bike ride. Sadly Outlaw clashes with our local music festival next year so he won't be sherping for me or doing the swim in the relay. (Who's going to mop me up from the medical tent??!) Although BTF rules look like he wouldn't be able to do it anyway. He can do a half when he's 20 so he's going to have to make do with Olys for a bit. Although I noticed the rules for 70.3 in Majorca said athletes had to be 18 on race day, with athletes under 18 needing parental permission. So there's hope for him yet! Just the small matter of A levels to contend with.
Am def having a knackeredness relapse. But happy not to have anything major to do all w/e so can chill.
At number 294, yes I was close to the pro bikes. And I wasn't last out of T1 either!
Actually, I hadn't planned on finishing, I knew my injured thigh wouldn't stand up to 15 hours of racing and so it proved. Doesn't really help if you have no leg strength to push going uphill, but I was very disappointed with my swim, it really sucked. 2nd worst time ever - my PW was at Sachsenmann back in July 2000.
Anyway - the weekend as a whole was a blast, thanks to all the pirates for making it again a great one. Nice to meet up with those we knew and also those who were new to us. We enjoyed supporting the later finishers coming in - but that so-called "light show" was pathetic wasn't it? I shall be back - whether that's a threat or a promise, I'll leave up to you.
LJS is racing tomorrow - city sprint champs. I am going to take the dogs to dog club for training of a different kind!
This has been a wonderful catch up. Just got back from Germany tonight and it felt lonely after the Pirate Ship left. It was absolutely the experience of a lifetime.......am working on the race report - it is epic but then again I have the best part of 15hours to write about!
Bit smokey over here today too . Fantastic reports and outstanding efforts on the day, Aitch, Rio, Meldy and a long list of stars.
Been trying to explain the Pirates, and Pirate support etc to non-tri friends over here who all assure me that I'll find another tri club and it'll be all the same. They just don't get it

great reports............its so hard sitting at home as an armchair supporter to work out whats going on................thanks for the great reports filling in the details
Fantastic reports everyone. It really brings the day back. I wasn't going to write mine until I got back from hols next week but I think you've shamed me into it, I'll sit down and write it tonight.
If wishes were horses.........................finally brought myself to look at the results on the website today and discovered that the others in my AG also had DNFs!
Rats!!!! Have just read Hen's report and looked at some photos of Henny and Anna. All this time I thought training made you faster - it turns out all you actually need is a Pink Watch! Something to remember for next time I guess..........
And, my mate Jules has been keeping a diary of the 30 weeks of training for Ironman Regensburg. Her race report is the final post but if any of you are interested you can read the full story as well as the race report here.
I started mine as promised on Sunday night. Got to 3 pages and I was still on the bike! Its turning into a novel. Im away Monday to Wednesday but will try finish it on Thursday. Sorry for the delay.
Thank you to everyone for the race reports. I can't begin to tell you how inspiring they are for an old slowcoach like me contemplating my first voyage. Its not going to be easy but when the training gets tough and the weather is foul I'm going to read your reports again and then get out in the rain.

I think this means I have to do another....
I have loved reading everyone else's. It's great to hear about other people's races, esp the ones I didn't see all race long!

Brilliant idea to do a book.
