The thing is if you go for a meal you are kinda stuck with whom ever you sit next too
Where as if we meet at a bar you can come and go as you please plus you can mingle.
If we go back to doggets you can also order food anyhow.

As Tommygun2 says - more flexibility.
Warning - last time we were in our usual place at Doggetts they had introduced a waiter only service which was a bit of a bore - although you could go downstairs and order your drinks there.
Good point Tommy,
I'm easy either way as long as the pub isn't too noisy as I have trouble hearing if there is loud music and stuff which is why I went for the meal option (plus I like my food).
