  • resting here...

Saw Joan Armatrading last night live in Canterbury.  A superb evening with some really talented local artists supporting.

    Valis, scary....  take care.

    5:30.. LOL at your 420x!

  • morning

7 slow miles, didn't want to get out of bed but it was nice out there

valis, hope you are feeling better today

  • Morning all - 10 miles, normally 5 at tempo but just couldn't get my legs to move, this bodes very badly for Abingdon and future races against 5.30am who is still improving as I slow down. TG, nice and speedy.MC, how's the chafing, industrial quantities of body glide recommended. Valis, not just a nightmare with the issues themselves, but the lack of support and follow up is even worse. Go and sit in your doctor's office until he gets so tired of you that you move up the waiting list.Birky, is BMW corner a German tourist attraction that the coach turns up for? Tiny, hope you got up and out, and PSC, enjoy the rest. Blood tests this morning to see if I will ever find out the cause of my anaemia and night sweats, work do this evening so I'm hoping I don't fall asleep on the train and wake up at the end of the line again, Mr F does get a bit cross.

  • Morning

2.5 slow miles done for me.  Was much easier than last time and felt pleasantly mild.  Was great to run to a section where there are no streetlamps and try out my headtorch for the first time.  I kept screaming when moths flew across the beam! Plus I fell over when trying to put my socks on half asleep, and initially ran out without putting my contact lenses in - no wonder everything was blurry! Had to go back and put them in.  SO a bit of a comedy of errors this morning but I enjoyed it so much more than last time.  Still struggling with sore muscles though (I never have this on evening runs). Presumably because my body hasn't warmed up yet.

NW: 1 DW.....that's it! Not another soul.  Oh and it was quite surprising to hear so much birdsong in the darkness.  Lovely image

  • Oh Valis just read you post, that sounds like bit of a night mare. Unfortunatly I still smokeimageimage and I do worry that one day something like that will happen to me especially the more I push myself physically. I have attempted giving up so many time I have sort of given up giving up. Today after my tempo run I couldn't stop coughing for about 3 mins after the run, big sign to me to try again.

And before people start sugesting various way to give up, well I have tried them all, its up to me I now know it got to be will power and I will make an effort...again.

  • tommy - it is like training, you just have to man up and do it! how you can do all the training you do and still smoke is beyond me!

  • Morning that post was 4 years ago and since then I have seen a specialist  2 years ago and the system in place is should I have a collapsed lung again no question I'm in for a an op. However my GP and specialist insist on occasions like this when air gets in to chest cavity I go to a& e  despite the fact that anything less than15%  cant be seen on x-ray ,the a&e staff think i am over reacting and tell me its muscle strain or viral and to go home. I then go to my gp who gives me decent pain killers to get me by until the air naturally dissipates over 3 or 4 days(fingers crossed ).  Again cheers for the well wishes.

Tommy , Understand completely I smoked and enjoyed it even after my first collapse I continued after second the taste changed and reality  could not be ignored after giving up my sleep pattern changed I found myself awake at 3 or 4 in the morning hence got the idea to go out get fit by running and here I am. I know my way might not help but I got a book on card tricks and brought bags of cheep lollipops and penny chews . Motivation well Tommy 1 your times are always good think how much better they could be, although it can't be done as a request when I saw specialist I had an mri done he pointed out areas where there wasthe early signs smoke damage (not that smoking is responsible for condition)and told me I packed up at a good time

    Kate, Hope tests go well.

Tiny , well done on getting out early ,morning birdsong one of the delights of s.o.c ing

Birky , 5.30 at least your players know when to keep their gobs shut.

    wave to all.

  • Valis: hope the pain settles down and you're feeling better soon.

    NW 1 x dog

  • Morning Tommy. Good run today.

  • 90 mins run... windy but mild out there.... Glad that I had a windproof once I was up on top of the downs.  Nobody seen, 1 builders van, nothing else.  Lots of NW.  Long tights today, NO HAT/GLOVES. image

    Morning peeps..

  • morning everyone

another sleepless night meant to soc todayimage shame because I love this kind of post-storm weather, mild and windy

  • Morning all - 6 mile fartlekish this morning, OR x 3 and pretty windy out there. Pleased I dragged myself out after a late finish at a work do, then sat chatting to Mr F until midnight. Felt grotty yesterday as it took 4 attempts to find a vein for a blood test, I have very bruised arms this morning, was wrapped up in blankets drinking tea in the hospital as they'd been so cruel with their needles.

Have a running coaching session tomorrow, first time for anything one on one, with Julian Goater, birky, is he on your athletics spot list? Tommy, are you still on the pre Beachy wagon? Hope the sleep sorts itself out soon MC, and you're feeling better valis. Happy Friday folks.

  • Hi Kate

Yes sort of, my abstinace is not alcahol persay, but just not getting wasted on a friday night which tends to write off satudays. Plus I used to pop in my local on the way home some week nights but I have put a stop to that aswell. I suppose just cutting out the beer, still having the odd glass of merlot thoughimage

oh and can I put your and PSC names down for the Christmas Social in London on the 14th Decemberimage The more the merrier, Celtic Runner is attending

  • Probably Tommy, just have to see when my work thing is, but I am sure I can squeeze in a mulled wine or two.
