Oh, that's a shame. I've not come across problems like that before either in a race where someone else gave me their place or with friends who have taken places in other races. I have run another half marathon which permitted places being handed over until a week or so before the race so long as the race organisers were notified which is what I thought I'd be able to do here.
Kev you did make me chuckle with the tale of coming the third female in the race. I can dream....
Maybe I should just sign up for Birmingham instead before that closes - I was going to do Cardiff with my sis as it's her local race.
you might be able to have my Brighton place - as long as you don't mind being a slow woman in a much older age category to you! I fell foul of that mistake with the Great South Run last year. Gave my place to a much younger faster guy from our club and ended up 'winning' my AG by miles. Started getting congrats emails that afternoon. It was AWFUL. Obviously I confessed first thing on Monday morning and the rightful winner got her prizes etc. But it was a horrid feeling. Taught me a lesson.
Dr Hilary Jones from GMTV got his number from his son for the London Martahon a couple of years ago.I'm led to believe that both have now been banned for life from the event. If I'm wrong,I'm sure some kind soul will educate me!
perhaps its a new offence disqualified from running. 12 month ban and penalty points.hope the police are out to enforce this. I will be stop checking all runners from now on, check them out on the police national computer. My arrest figures could go up
I don't think we are a Police state yet, thank goodness. It is though a serious subject I feel and the debate will no doubt go on.Pretty much like the arguements against wearing those i-pod things!
terry believe the start is now down the bay away from city centre, easy to get to from M4 and try and find a PARKING spot in bay area.this could be a problem as limited car parks. however the start is only around 1 mile from city centre. Goody bags are the worst in the world certainly not value for money. if anyone looking for a fast half .try the torfaen half the following sunday in gwent.
Just to say that unfortunately the torfaen half has had to be pulled this year I believe...............another small half that has been struggling because of traffic issues
As I am a solicitor and Kev a police officer we would like to make it quite clear that there is no way that either of us would collude in such prohibited activity.
I ran the Chester marathon this year - I was able to get a place when I recieved a email from a lady runner who could not do it ,so we contacted the organisers and changed details.all was fine I was given her number but it had my name on it in the records.its easy to do if you do it right.
Hi guys, email me at andywilliams006@hotmail.com if you need a space for the Cardiff Half Marathon- I have injured my foot after training for this event for ages so unfortunetely will not be able to run it.
I've had a last minute opportunity for some running in Morocco and I leave on the day of the Cardiff half so won't be running. If anyone needs a place (and assuming there is time to switch it with the organisers) you can have mine.

Hi,
I'm looking for a place too, put my name on waiting list at weekend but haven't got to top of list yet. Still hoping.

Taken from another thread entirely but just to echo the point
Who would get the ban?
Would it be the original entrant or the person taking their place?
My guess would be the original entrant, because they already have their details

any thoughts on the best places for psrking
i am told the bay is a nightmare at the best of times, let alone when there are potentially an extra 10,000 or so cars
The last think=g I want is to have to walk a couple of miles back to the car after the race
Anyone got any ideas
