what you need for a good racing atmosphere is loads of derelict, former manufacturing plants that have had to close down because of lazy, unionised, striking northerners. that combined with support from roaming gangs of junkies and crack whores, its what really makes a quality event!
Oooh it does? That's a bummer as quite fancied giving the Chilterns a whirl but have friends doing Brighton and was intending to go support! Dilema Schmunks are you running the Brighton Marathon?
If you wanna do the Chilterns, there is the Chiltern 100 (with two shorter routes) in mid June. Also me and JWRun are looking at organising a ride out in the Chilterns sometime soon/early next season
Thanks for that Schmunks, I shall pencil in the June one then I think so I can heckle at Brighton. Let me know if you do organise a ride though as would be interested in joining you.....I intend on doing Vit next year so will need some miles in my legs.
Chiltern 100 was the week before Bala this year but definite dates will be out at the start of next year. I have the route maps for both the Little Dipper and the Chiltern 100 (and two smaller ones) so we can sort something out privately if no organised ride comes to fruition.
Oooh, the Vit is my intended A race next year too. I know I have some work to do, but I am 'in training' even now as I intend to give it my all, esp as quite liking The New Improved Barley
Thank you. Need to get in some swim and bike training in too tho, but building up the stamina and endurance running first as have GNR next month and Cardiff Half in Oct
Been on Tri Talk and another update from the Race Organiser from Tue 24th
Latest update: The run course is looking good and we have what we hope will be a final meeting on Wednesday 1st september. After this meeting, we hope to be in a stronger position to release more information regarding what we hope will be Challenge Henley.
Possibly. IMR will be my first IM but I'm thinking if I can get a coach and train smarter then why not? 6 weeks seems like a fairly good length of time between races.
Hello all, we did have a meeting on the 1st which was very good and a follow up one on the 3rd which i think has just about swung the run course. Apologies for the lack of info, but i attempted to swim the channel on saturday (failed after 17miles and 8 hours!). We still have just a few details to go over and re-confirm with a variety of parties, but it seems we have overcome the biggest problems and without wanting to tempt fate the race plans are moving ahead nicely. The last thing we want to do is launch the event only to have to reimburse everybody and cancel because we overlooked some detail in the early planning stages. If you are interested in racing, please bear with us as we work through the final stages of planning. We are still hoping to be able to make an announcement in September and open entries at the same time with our new website. Please feel free to contact me direct for info: alan@justracinguk.com
oh why???? It's at the right time of the year, before the tri season gets going, it's a good warm-up, you don't have to race it for a PB, unless of course that's your attitude to any race, and you'll still have another 4 months before IMR. You can run it for training and just enjoy the camaraderie, it's what I plan to do, and if you're training properly anyway you'll be able to run it easily and be recovered in a week.

yeah, Henley would be an awful location.

Linky thing
Yup, training permitting, I will be there!

hmmm
6 weeks after IMR......
oh good soupy! we'll all have to run in pirate tops so we can spot each other.
Redhead from the "mature" thread and Guiness world record fame will be there too.
Possibly. IMR will be my first IM but I'm thinking if I can get a coach and train smarter then why not? 6 weeks seems like a fairly good length of time between races.
hmmm....6 weeks eh? and a couple of days after my birthday. Wonder if I could persuade LJS to see this as my birthday prezzie?????
I'd have more of chance if there was a relay too.
