Overall, the Outlaw. Don't like split transtions, most of the Roth run course wasn't overly interesting or spectator friendly, and the logistics of getting around Roth before/during/after the race was messy. Clearly doable, but more aggro than I prefer, being lazy and disorganised ...

Agree Outlaw - although I was only in the relay team at Roth the split transition made it a nightmare, and as Kanga said the run route was not spectator friendly.

split transitions are a pain the arse - so Outlaw and support the British economy

but if you want to experience crowd support on a bike like you get up the Solarerberg, then Roth has to be done sometime as well

Roth was a faff with the split transitions, but it was also ace, and I'm sooooo glad I did it! The feedstations etc were better stocked than Outlaw, especially on the bike. Having said that, it is very well established and no doubt Outlaw will go from strength to strength.

Outlaw looked to be a bit lonelier at the back on the bike, but when I'm faster I think I may just have to add it to the list

S'like ice cream innit - two different flavours, both very yummy!

because its the tour de france of triathlon - it will only make sense once you have been there watching or racing (if you go there to watch you will race it the next year, trust me).

its an unbelievable atmosphere.

or you could just get some sort of job? I dont think being able to afford one weekend in Europe and one day in Nottingham exactly requires one to be loaded!

if it is a choice only between these two and if you are only ever going to do one IM then I would do Roth, but if you are going to do one per year do the outlaw. Split transitions suck.

Depends on ability


Roth has a denser number of competitors and Outlaw doesnt unless you are a front runner but that could change of course

oxy - ok maybe not loaded - but it would be expensive to do both
i have a job - but i could not take that amount of money out of the family budget just for me
