Nam - did you see the episode of Heston Blumethal's program where he made a gothic horror feast and tried to make stew out of leeches after they had drunk goose blood?
Did anyone watch TV yesterday? When the scientist secretly tested one of the holiday makers drinking water and she found some dangerous bugs in the drinking water
Jesus. You completely missed the point, didn't you? The whole hotel was disgustingly dirty, so a few bugs in the drinking water were the least of the problems given that the pool was shocked while the kids were in it, and the jacuzzi harboured more bacteria than your bumhole.
studies show that women are the primary consumers in the category as ¾ women report that they drink bottled water (Mintel Oxygen, Bottled Water-us-dec 2008). Furthermore, Fiji Water is priced higher than other bottled waters and therefore, their target audience must be mid-high level income and not price sensitive consumers.
I wonder if they are the same sort of women who like to pay good money for that very special "loca calorie" "Skinny Water"...
@Nam - I reported the makers of Skinny Water to Trading Standards, and even took SW on. They're staffed by idiots - complete and utter knobbers who probably also believe in reiki, homeopathy and PowerBalance bands.
The packaging used by Bio-Synergy is designed to give you as much information as possible, in a clear and honest way. Following a recent re-design and re-branding, it also looks fantastic at home, at work or at the gym.
So this is water for people who worry how good the bottle looks at home or in the office??! I guess some people's vanity is without limits.
but while there are so many thick gullible people out there who will get hooked by whatever dubious untested claim is made about a product, then there will be someone making a shitload of money out of it.
perhaps we're all stupid by not doing this ourselves but I guess too many of us have some conscience
I reported skinny water to the ASA. They weren't interested. I guess they're happy for companies to claim that their product contains less calories than water as long as they only imply it and don't actually say it.
Just jumping in - I drink bottled water - fizzy stuff only as its the only thing that will settle a hangover for me
And what about that spray for your face that evian make - its just water in a spray can that you spray on......THE PAT OFF??? What the hell is the point - this is of course referring to the statement that the public are idiots and i would tend to agree in light of this product, which is slightly concerning as my mum bought me some the other day - I did tell her it was a waste of money!
And also the tap water in scotland is the best I've tasted, liverpool not too bad either.
If someone put strychnine in the water at the Skinny Water plant then we could get the product off the market AND remove redundant DNA from the gene pool in one go.
I also challenged Volvic on their 14 day challenge thing. I asked them about they control groups that were using non-Volvic liquids for rehudration, such as tea, coffee, cola, and so on. They had no evidence to support their claims that drinking Volvic makes you feel more hydrated. WTF!

But bottled water companies today are advertising all sorts of bottled waters and water-treatment devices as miracle cures for all sorts of ills. Consumers can find water “ionizers,” vibrationally charged interactive water, energy enhanced water infused with luck or love, weight-loss waters, super-oxygenated water machines, magnetized water, rhythm-structured water, and on and on.
No mention of homeopathy there...
But vibrationally-charged interactive water sounds interesting...

Oh what about that oxygen enriched water that Boots were selling a couple of years back ? Ideal for sports ! 'Ogo' I think it was ?
I tells ya - the public ARE idiots !
Yeah the phrase 'I feel surrounded by idiots' applies to me alot of the time....apart from the wife and kid naturally!!
Oh if only the world were all runners....wouldn't the world be a nice place
Although races would be a bugger to get into!!
They should be running the country!!!
Don't see why not...
OK there are a few bad apples about - bottled water drinkers, Iplodders, shufflers, spitters etc
The itsy bitsy speeder went up the water spout.
Down came the rain, and washed the speeder out.
Out came the sun, and dried up all the rain,
and the itsy bitsy speeder went up the spout again.
*bows*

Double Whammy!
I had to put the smiley in just to convince Bletchley park that I am not a terrorist
Is that one ok, guys?

Great article.
Bottled water is a bit of a necessary evil when you are out and about and don't want to drink sugar laden gunk.
Of course when councils provided well maintained drinking fountains (remember them?) it wasn't such a problem.

We buy a couple of 5ltr bottles of mineral water a year and just refill with tap water.
