Laurent Fignon RIP

I was very sad to see that Laurent Fignon had died.

One of my best memories of him was early in his career when he was leading the one day Classic race Blois-Chaville. He was out in front by some margin when his Campagnolo Super Record Titanium bottom bracket broke and it was game over for him.

Not that he had to wait too much longer to come to prominence.

Most will remember him for that tour when he lost to Lemond by 8 seconds in 1989 but he was also a good one day rider, winning Milan San Remo and other big one day races, not to mention 5 stages as he won his seconf tour in '84.
