you will get chance to meet Becky You will only be doing perhaps one event a week. Be careful though , we don't want any little matchsticks wandering around the coast.
How are your sailing legs Barry? I'm hoping to do the three peaks yacht race next June so that could be a week of sailing and running for you if you fancy it?

Barry must be posted in a protective envelope special delivery. Runner to cover all costs. Runner to inform when Barry is recieved and when he is posted on. Remain in communication at all times. Anyone disappearing from site will be thought of as dead.
Photo's of Barry plus sound bite must be made before / during / after event. These must be provided to website / Barry or any official free of charge and with permission to use. The wording could be better but thats about the gist of it.
Oh and if Barry isn't passed on in a timely fashion be prepared for a knock at the door from the heavy mob.
as we are still awaiting developments of another coasters event, I feel we can, in the meantime, start hiring Barry out to various events. Bikermouses guidelines above seem good to me but we will need some form of diary to be kept. I understand woody would like Barry pretty soon for an event So, If anyone else has something lined up, please let us know.
This hiring out of Barry should be seen as a respite period, I feel, to enable us time to decide on our next adventure
Opinions and bookings please
Bikermouse- could you do a sort of website diary type thing for us?
Hi folks As Stu has mentioned above I wouldn't mind taking Barry on the Cornish Marathon. After all we don't want him getting to lazy before any other more important event comes up for him. Which in my opinion should take priority over the single runner single events that might be booked in his dairy, whats your thoughts?
WHO :-
Think you already have all these details. Besides posting these details here with the details below would be an invitation for any would be burglar.

Is there a chance I could put in a tentative offer for the Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10k in early May (first or second week)? Anyone who's a runner around Aberdeen takes part in this race so the Aberdeen coasters could have a chance to see Barry again
Just found this thread. Probably wouldn't have had time to sort out the logistics but I'm sure Barry would have liked to have joined me in North Wales for the Snowdonia Marathon last Saturday. He would have enjoyed the views of the mountains rather than more coastline.
I'll post a request soon for an event in Feb called the "Punchbowl Marathon". It;s an LDWA walk/run rather than a race. No prizes, medals, etc... but a really lovely 20 mile off-road run through the Surrey Hills near Guildford.
...and I said much earlier BM, Matt and I should be OK to form part of your South Downs Marathon Relay team if you need us.
Well Strag I see no harm in Barry doing that event.
On a bit of a serious theme, we do need to have a diary type website in order to pencil in events. I use the term "pencil in" as still waiting to hear from folk regarding our next venture.
I do feel that although we are all taking a bit of a breather, Barry's diary has to be sorted in true coasters style, which means, all having our say in decision making and organisation. Of course this is leisurely compared with the work we have been doing. The only thing that will make this diary hard work is lack of involvement by folks.
I would like bikermouse to sort out the web diary thing and have put it to her. Had no response so far. However if somebody would like to do it please let us all know.
my role in this bit will be to let race organisers know about Barry and who will be with him - a promotional role. Any ideas are welcome
Rules look good to me, when i've made my mind up about what races to do next year I'll invite Barry along to one or two.
I've nothing definite after Hellrunner this Sunday and as Woody says we wouldn't want to leave Barry in the Bog of Doom (although he'd be able to keep my trainers company!)
I do want someone for the diary bit. I certainly want Bruce to be the main website peop in the next great coasters adventure. I am sure we all agree that he has done an excellent job

Second this - well done Bruce! I love those quirky flashy things that made our site interesting and different
Well this idea has crashed. However there is a problem.
I still have Barry!!!!!
He should be with whoever is "leading" the new event, not with me at all. He is not mine he belongs to "all of us". . Why should I hold onto Barry ? Perhaps I should sell him on ebay but he is not mine to sell, he is ours. I do not want the responsibility of being custodian of Barry at all now.
Barry should be priming up for the new event with one of the new event main players, not me.
So someone please collect him asap and put him somewhere safe.
I always wanted woody to have him in the interim Mike. Shame the diary has not emerged. We have to be so so careful with how it is arranged. Nobody wants to lose Barry do they? Barry will be the "selling" hook for next event, whatever it is. He succeeded on the coast and now perhaps he will succeed on the peaks or whatever.
we are all his parents in a way
Don't underestimate the power of Barry in getting folk involved in the event

Do I sense a little friction here Stu? have you and Barry had a tif?
As Mike says I'll taking him from under your feet for the Cornish marathon, a week on Saturday if that's OK? I'll send my details and I will need your address to collect him.
Regarding the absence of a web diary, a suggestion as a stop gap. we simply keep a rotating Dairy on here of when, who, what and where. The private information, Address, phone numbers, email Address is sent to the runner before your turn as follows:-
Format is
When - Who - What - Where - details received from the next runner - Barry status (you have/ in post etc).
n/a - Stu - resting and driving Stu mad - at Stu's - No details - has Barry
21/11/10 - Woody2run - Cornish marathon - Millennium House Pensilva Cornwall - No - awaiting Barry
? /05/11 - Duckinator - City of Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10k - Aberdeen Beach Boulevard.
I need to send my details to Stu who can confirm he has when received them. If there are no more entries in the diary between me and Ducky he has to send the required details to me for me to confirm I've received his. Once my event is over I'm removed from the list.
Of course people must under stand that as soon as the next proper event comes off it will take precedent over this.

I can post more details etc if it sounds ok.Woody, are you bringing Barry down for a little splash around the Bogs of Doom ?
(and No! thats not a George Michael reference!)
Right, I'll follow woody's format above.
WHO :-
Well, me. And possibly my mum.
WHAT :-
Event name - City of Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10k

Event Date - Not confirmed yet, but this year's was 23rd May. So probably the same week next year, probably May 22nd.
I'm understandably nervous about posting my address etc on a public forum.

Not planning to. Barry is dossing I mean staying with Stu at the moment so would require a detour to pick him up.
TBH I'd be frightened of loosing him the the Bog of Doom .

will be some time before main event so folks can book Barry in the interim
