Most clubs have "go ride events" during the year. These are run alongside the evening club TT's and mean you can just rock up and pay. There may be only one per year so contact your local clubs for them. For all the talk of quick times, there is a wide range at most clubs.
Just be careful with 'go-ride' as that's the name used by British Cycling for the junior section of cycling clubs!... You might win the TT, but you'll upset an 8 yr old....
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
Certainly at my club you can just turn up and ride the club TT. You don't need to be a member, although you pay £4 instead of £2, and membership is only £12... If you want to have your results counted towards the series, then you need to be a member, with the club as your first claim club.
We also run a handicap system based on your PB, and often (usually) new riders lead this league, which is good fun!
For anyone aged 40 or over, you can also ride against the VTTA times, which are a set of 'standard' times for various ages that you try to beat
Finally, the best bit of TTing is that in reality, unless you are very good, the person your racing against is yourself and last week's time

The hard man of the road wasn't home when I dropped my entry off yesterday afternoon - so I left it with his mum. Awww.
So with 10 days to go, should I train for this? It's a flat 25 mile course on a main road and I'm currently in my second week of post Vitruvian recovery.
Wont hurt you to go out and do a few rides with some efforts at you predicted race intensity, or even finding a 10 mile loop and riding that as hard as you can, it will give you an idea of pacing.
TT I was of at no 6 first thing in the morning in the overspill. Apparently not the quickest of days, it's certainly not an easy course. No help down the bank. I think knowing the course will help next year. Pebble better watch his back!!!
+1, best to finish strong and empty the tank at the end. If you enjoy it you havent gone hard enough
Hee hee.... I was chatting to one of the guys marshalling at the finish of a TT earlier this year, and said I didn't know where the next 20 seconds was coming from, and he said that I just needed to try harder, as I hadn't thrown up upon finishing yet......

If you've got a new TT bike then give it a couple of trial runs and then use it - you may pick up a few clues as to whether you need to alter the set up which will help if you are planning to train on it this winter. Unless you are fighting for a position in a series or think that you can pb in which case see how the TT bike goes in the week and make a decision which is faster.
Yeo deffo ride the TT bike, have you ridden the course before on your road bike? If yes and you used a hr monitor as well it will give you a good indication of the time savings the TT bike gives over the road bike, as long as the conditions are similar.
If anyone wants to follow some turbo training plans online whilst turboing this winter, here are enough to keep even the toughest masochists happy. You can search for plans with whatever bit of kit you have, such as hrm, powermeter or just a speedo etc. Plus you can upload your own plans. I'm just starting to play with it, the turbo that is
Indeed, very good looking site, if I was allowed to use a turbo indoors, I'd be all over it, its soul destroying enough using it, without being stuck out in the arctic black hole (my garage)
Not allowed to turbo in the house?? Whose house is it?
I have been allocated a start time 17 minutes ahead of the last starter on Sunday so it's possible I might not be the last finisher even if I'm the slowest rider. Turbo set this morning with 2 x 10 mins just above the target HR for Sunday. Excited now.

Gyraffe, the best bit of advice I can give you is DO NOT GO HARD FROM THE OFF, I say again,DO NOT GO OFF LIKE A BULLETT. Build into it
Doozer a 56 on the R25/3? You set of in the 2nd 1/2 of the field then?
better luck next year(advanced warning R25/3 course being run by myself again).
Biggest tip i find? Know the course. Pointless banging away on what you think is a flat route to take in a sod of a climb.
seren next season if you can get to glyn-neath on a wesnesday night, welcome to the club run TTs but you will have to join a club after 3 events.

http://www.welshcycling.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=61&Itemid=72LOL! its the only distance pebble is faster than me this season.............R25/3 on the same day(my club event) he done a 54, i done a 55.
As i said im looking to run another event on there. I will try and book PB sun n wind!

You will find this hard to believe but my IM bike sections have all been done at leisurely pace, honest.
New (S/H) TT bike should turn up tomorrow, got an open 10 next weekend do I......
1) Whack a few sessions in on the new bike over the next week, and run it next weekend.
or
2) Stick with my roadie (known quantity) and aero bar combo for this last (probably) TT of the season?
Heart says 1, head says 2.....
Also, out of these two, my current GP4000s, and the new TT bikes Vittoria Rubino Pro, which are best for TT's?

Bike never turned up today <img />, but I think I'll use it when (if) it turns up in time.
First time on the course (B10/44), so no benchmark.

Man up Danowat!
Stick an old TV in there, and ride while you watch re-runs of 1980's Bergerac and Howards Way episodes like the rest of us!
Ouffff......I wish I could, weather is still pretty good, although intervals are a bit of a PITA on the roads, outside wins everytime.
As the ice and snow descends, things will change I guess, and the hole will become more appealing.

What kind of question is that?.
Its hers of course!!!!
Hill climbs now to seperate the wheat from the chaff.
Welsh 25......... 240 riders. Welsh hill climb, less than 30!
