HI, Have done running for a year, & competed in 2,ten miles, four 10k, & five 5ks races. Am going to compete in winter 3k series on an athletics track, do i need to do anything different then on the road?
Have you done any training on the track, or if not have got any opportunity to do so? The physical demands aren't that much different, the track surface is a bit more cushioned than road, but the main thing you could benefit from is getting used to pacing. The shorter the distance, the more it's a case of setting an uncomfortable but manageable pace and holding on, so it's worth getting a feel for hard running on the track, practising running even 200m/400m splits, etc.
