  • oh i give up "stockport10 @ hotmail . co.uk"
  • Lol....Kwaka throws computer out of window....image
  • Wehey!

List is up and I`m in! image

How tough is it? I wanted to attack my PB at Preston this weekend but been really ill with flu so might have to refocus and race hard at Stockport. Is it PBable? How does it compare to Spire 10 or Caldervale?

  • Weyhey, I'm in too.

the egyptian, it's quite a hilly course so I would guess not a good one for a road PB. However I'm no judge (and certainly no speedster) because most of my events are off-road mountain / fell / trail, so this is easy in comparison for me. (Did I mention I'm not fast?)

  • Just entered this one. My  local race. Used to be a member of Stockport Harriers, but never done this race before. I'm dying to know what's in the goody bag!
  • Good to see our webmaster has got his act together.
  • Looking forward to the goody bag. Hoping for a gnome myself...
  • Are we all wearing tinsel?? image

  • Instead of running kit? Won't we get bad chafing? image Maybe as race sweeps my friend and I should wear fancy dress? I will email the fancy dress shop in Stockport and see if they have a Viaduct costume.

I really need to get knitting my last finisher's prize. All I need is a genius idea. This week would have been a good time to have got it done as I have run 0 miles due to a chest infection image

  • I just hope the snow doesn`t appear or it`ll be tough to get there from Sheff.
  • Video teaser no.9 was shot at the Woodbank parkrun this morning, should be out sometime this w/e.

Entries are picking up for this now and we just might sell out. Be warned!

  • Might give it a go....Looks hard for a newbie like me.....them hills look like a killer....Need to make up my mind fast image
  • Tigerjames - hills aren't that bad image It's a great race and perfectly suitable for a newbie (and then there is also the goody bag image)
  • Now there's an idea Morticia......Brilliant! I can live with a little chafing....image

You'll be ok Tigerjames. Do it.

  • How hard / long and where are these hills? Still wondering whether to race hard or not.
  • Its mostly flat / downhill until mile 5, where the first hill kicks in for about 3/4 mile, with a nasty sting in the tail as you turn into the estate. Miles 6 - 7 are rolling, then flat & downhill to mile 8 1/2 (apart from one 50 mtr climb) Its then up hill (varying degrees of steepness) until you get onto the path in the park then it flattens out to the finish.

You have to buckle down after turning onto the estate and then dig deep on the final hill.

  • are you sending the numbers out or do we pick them up on day
  • Thanks Kwaka. Sounds like fun but a tough finish! Can`t be worse than Mansfield with about 3 miles uphill at the end on the hottest day of the year!
  • I think the numbers are being posted out. I'm not the head honcho this year just helping out. Drop an email to /forum/smilies/confused_smiley.gif[/img]tockport10@hotmail.co.uk]stockport10@hotmail.co.uk

  • not again..... stockport10 at hotmail dot co dot uk
  • Get a grip, the race will be over before you get it rightimage
  • Its the pressure of not being responsible for anything this year. I'm actually running instead of organising.
  • This race starts and finishes at Woodbank stadium and so I would therefore class it as undulating as opposed to hilly.

Entries are filling up fast and we are now over 700.  It's being featured on Runners World next week as 'Race of the Week' so expect the the remaining places to fill up pretty quick.

  • If you're thinking of entering this race then do so quickly!!  We have 820 entries to date and the race limit is 900.
  • If there's snow like today, do you think it will be cancelled, or postponed??
  • They ran it on ice a couple of years ago so I doubt it will be cancelled. But I am not one of the organisers so you will have to wait for the official word!
  • BB - next week's forecast looks much better.  We haven't even discussed the eventuality of a cancelled or postponed race and hopefully we won't have to.  We will be keeping a very close eye on the weather and forecast once we're into next week though.  Updates will appear in the usual places, including on here.
  • what a day snow snow and more snow
  • Just a quick update on this. As Eric says we are now past 820 entrants for the race and it's looking like being another sell out. The entries will be kept open until the end of the week and then its very likely the Race Full signs will go up. So if you've not already done so get your entry in now. All details of how to enter can be found on the website: http://www.stockportharriers.com/index.php?q=club-races

Also if you cant run this we are short of marshals so if you can help please fmail me & I'll pass on your details.

And dont forget to look at the Video Teasers to give you some clues as to whats going to be in the Goody Bag.

  • Got my number today - I must have been a bit quick off the mark, as I got number 9! Really looking forward to this one now, just hoping the weather is ok for it.
