Does anybody know if a full marathoner can be also part of a relay team. Website details say the relay must have between 2-4 runners and there are set relay points.
i.e
I start and run the full but my husband starts at relay point 1 (runs 19 miles) when I 'tag' him in??
Did this one this year. Very well organised, very scenic. Can get lonely if you fall away from a group, sometimes felt like a training run. But some people prefer that.
Tonka Boy- My OH is wanting to do 2 legs of the relay, so if your wife and friend are happy to do a leg each then they could be a team of 3? He is NOT fast!!
This year we will also be offering a bicycle hire service for your friends/family/supporters. More information will be emailed to participants early next year.
My 16 week training plan kicks off in a week's time. Training has been going well, so I am mostly concentrating on building up the distance.
From the course profile, it looks like the hills are at 2-3 miles, then at 8, then at 19-20 miles (yikes). Does anyone know whether the course profile is in metres or feet? The earlier I know the better I suppose!
Thanks for the info on the hills (or lack of) a great relief. Whenever I tell anyone what marathon I am doing there are 2 responses: "sorry, which marathon" followed swiftly by "that must be hilly".
Hi Catcat, did some charging up Butser Hill yesterday! Should be fine for the Meon Valley Plod and if I survive that one, this M'ton should be ok as well....
Yesterday I received an e-mail confirming race number & an e-mail back confirming tshirts size - this e-mail I found in my SPAM folder - you guys might want to check.
Ran this one last year, it was a good race and you will enjoy it. Take your bottles / food and they will put them out at the feed stations for you.
Great medal and I still use the pen. Not running it this year as did not plan to run any marathons this year, but then I decided I would, but it was full. So entered the Neolithic on the same day!
Kate I think I saw you on the Marlborugh Challange thread! I have entered that one too!
Hi Ben - yes, I've entered my first Ultra in Marlborough, so using this and London as a warm up. This was my first ever marathon last year, and it's got me hooked on long distance now.
Nearly the end of week 10 out of my 16 week training plan. Up early tomorrow to run the Cranleigh 21 - the longest run of my schedule. Enjoyed it last year and the weather is looking good.
I like the idea of having a bottle of something to look forward to later in the NDVM. I'd be gutted if it wasn't there though!

Don't talk to me about older and fatter not sure about wiser though
Well after having my name down for this year and having to cancel it due to a family wedding, i am already looking forward to doing this next year.

Sorry Tia,
Marathon and Relay are two separate events. So the same runner cannot take part in both.
Hi all. I will be doing this one. Also doing Brighton a few weeks before.
I have run most of the course when I was training this year but it will be nice to complete the whole course.
Must look into the Meon Valley Plod that some have mentioned.
Hi ya
I'm singed up for doing this one, 2 years of entering and not being able to run it have made me determined to do it in 2011!
Grumpydirtbag- I am also doing Brighton Mara in April
My post above asking about the relay was an attempt to allow my OH to join in, as Mara distance is beyond him due to past injuries
ok ...cheers

Week 1 training complete, 15 to go.
That's it marathon is FULL.
More places should become available middle of Feb (deadline for county championship reserved places).
My hubby isstill wanting to run the relay (2 legs), any takers for the other legs??
Looking forward to it, an doing Sussex on April 3rd as a warm up.
Bring it on!!
How's everyone's training going and more pressing how are those who are doing the MVP getting on.
I did a lovely 15 miles round Queen Elizabeth Country Park today, plenty of hills, so think MVP should be ok.

Hi folks, how is the training going?
Currently up to 17 miles for my longest run. 20 mile race on 20th March

Nice one Rtg

That is good, I am doing Bath Beat and the Neo as a warm up as well!
Good luck! Looking forward to my first 24 mile LSR this weekend!

Don't worry... it will be there
Entries have reopenened as there are a couple of places going spare... so if you know of somebody that wants to take part....
Rats I would have!! But already running elsewhere! I missed the sell out earlier this year!
But do not worry I have Sturminster Half already in my plan!
I cannot recommend this race enough! Your bottles will be there! If you are looking for a good marathon do this one!
