Trimpell 20 2011

Does anyone know the date for 2011, please? I think they will probably bring it forward a bit because London is earlier this year?

  • Thank you Stephen.
  • What the course like?
  • Not run it before but I understand its fast, flat and traffic free.
  • Will be doing this one as part on my VLM training as I suspect most other entrants will be
  • The course is awesome, can posty a course GPS link if you like? I've done it last 4 years I think now... did my PB there in 2009, hoping to mash that again this year. Great race... one of the best in the country!

The route changed last year and started from Salt Eyre Leisure Centre in Lancaster.

Some of the course would have been the same but it did not start from the Trimpell Club in Morcambe.

    KOB

  • did it in 2008 and its quite a fast course well the old course was

Yeah I've got the old and the new course on GPX file, let me know if anyone wants it, it's also bob on accurate as well as they finish on the track and can measure the required make up distance which is nice.

  • No worries Pug, just did not want anyone going to the wrong start.

Last year one guy did go to the old start!

I'm not running this my OH is but I will be helping at the end.

  • It will be my first 20, training for the London Marathon, my first marathon, hoping for 3 hours at Trimpell, if you can post a link to the course that would be great, thanks

  • How did everyone get on today? I didn't run it due to coming back from an injury but I helped marshall it, which I really enjoyed despite the fact my hands are killing me from all the clapping. We were at Caton stopping the traffic between the two car parks just near the water station.

  • I've read reports from a couple of guys who measured it on their Garmins at 19.83 and 19.91.  Did anyone else get it short?  It has always seemed to get surprisingly fast times, as do some other races in the North West...
  • LOL BR image

I hear a certain course in Essex produced some remarkably fast times today as well - did they import their measurer from the Fylde coast? image

  • No - it measured 20.11 +.  And that tallied with me being around 45 secs off what I thought I would be for the effort.  And the guy had all his certificates out and it was being BARR rated today, so everything in place for a pedant like me.  In fact the organiser was a man after my own heart.  And yours probably.  No race memento, no prizes except county medals.  3 cups of water en route.  Old skoolimage

I now know Pug measured Trimpell at 19.87, so there's 3 all well short.  And the entry form does not state the race has a certificate of course accuracy.

  • Who needs prizes when you come away with a sub 2 hr time! image I take it you're not running Spen then?

As  for Trimpell, its another course with abrupt turnaround points. In fact it has 4 and we know that these seem to confuse garmin measurements so it was probably okay.

  • well Barnsley runner doing Spen 20 next week that is a lot harder then this but good fun and nice hot showers after

the greenway race is on in June again
  • I measured it a 19.87, which was surprising at the end as every mile marker my Garmin was 0.04 over the mile marker

    Thanks
