Am getting very impatient for entries to open! Spoke to my friend who was a bike referee this year and he said the complaints were indeed about litter and dangerous cycling, but also some about the referees aledgedly riding their motorbikes dangerously, so it would seem there is a lot to sort out before entries open
Me too Loulabell!! Did a little sprint in July this year, but that's all I've done. Don't come from a running, cycling or swimming background either, so have masses of work to do!! Still that's half the reason for picking one in September, plenty of time to train for it!
I did the ladies only event at Dorney Lake in July as part of my year of trying new and different things 400m swim, 20k bike and 5k run, finished in 1:53. Second from last in my age group, but it wasn't about being fast it was about enjoying it.
Am putting myself out on a total limb with this one, but want to raise lots of money for Macmillan in memory of my father-in-law who passed away last September, so the timing is significant for me too.
And, most excitingly I went into the shop I bought my bike from and, fuelled by a few glasses of pinot grigio, I got cheeky, told them I would be doing this and asked if they would like to sponsor me with kit and they said 'probaby' Called them back today, and Alex from Streetlife cycles in Norwich has said yes!! It's not going to be tons of stuff, but as I don't have much everything helps and it will also spur me on knowing that I'll be letting them down if I don't put the effort in.
Did Vit a couple of years ago as my first middle but have missed the last couple of years on account of it clashing with a local half mara sponsored by my workplace. Fortunately the boss is also a pirate and has relented and given me a green card to do Vit next year
Have most of the gear, don't have wet suit, crap at swim (trying to learn front crawl bleeding hard), bike (learnt to balance on it this year and move forward, but can people and thier cars bugger off) and run (can actually run if slow) so what have I to lose
