Well it was certainly an experience, and not one I expect to reprise any time soon in Oz! For January I was thinking for a 2-4 lap run around RP, leave the bikes out of it all together until the weather improves. Should be a few peeps working on their running and/or cross country at the moment that could manage the 3-4 laps, and the lame/infirm/lazy can settle for 1 or 2. Same thing, more social than serious, just blow a few winter cobwebs away. Maybe a staggered start so we all finish and bog off to the pub at the same time ?
Wonder how I can dress this up as Mrs K's birthday bash, sure she's just *dying* to do laps of RP
Rather than Meldy's usual 'me,me,me' birthday thread/piss up for mid January (same burpday as Mrs K as we discovered last year), we combine the two events ? Meet just after lunch, run our little legs off, then pub it to refuel ? Can shower/change at mine before we head out to the bright lights of Londinium to catch up with the non-runners. Or just turn up unwashed and miraculously get seating and plenty of elbow room at the bar ?
Or .... we could leave till later in the month around Australia Day (Weds 26th), and celebrate our impending Ashes win at a Walkabout, bit of an Aussie theme piss up ?
Or ... <<insert your daft idea here, must involve some form(s) of physical exercise/punishment and alcohol>>
Sounds like the beginnings of a plan. I think her Meldyness should know what her availability might be by now, which might be a good start in terms of shaping up possible weekends (or merrily carrying on in her absence).
There was talk of a mini-JW ultra sometime in January, but that seems mostly to be still in the planning stage.
Hmm, is this a pirate only kinda thing or is it open to all? I live a couple of hundred metres from Roehampton Gate and the park is my regular playground....

Are you any good?
If so, you can feck off!
Otherwise the more the merrier!
Actually if you are any good I'll bring my bungee and hook a lift!
Sounds good to me - just let me know when and I'll be there. 2 laps will be more than enough to work up a thirst though so put me on the lame/lazy list.
Will check the old shifts when I get back to work tomorrow and see what I can find but I dont think I have any weekends off in January which could present an issue !
I'm planning on the Winter Tanners on the 4th and a 50 on the 29th so any weekend in between would be good, would be nice to meet some people from here

There are only two kinds of people in the world. Pirates, and those that wish they were
If you want in, you're in, but as Meldy said be prepared to turn your wardrobe and mindset into black and yella
I can do Friday 21st for an evening event or I can do 22nd for a day time with no alcofrol as I am working early Sunday morning Failing that I can do Sunday 2nd but I suspect that might not be favourable with a lot of people!
Any of those dates I can do but as they're both a week before races I'd only really be able to do one or two laps, fifteenth or sixteenth any good for you?
Fri 21st is good for me, but Sat 22 am learning stuff up in town. Shall we just go the pub and forget the running stuff? Or how about a night run with headtorches (fun!) and then head to nearest pub
Might be able to offer accomm to one bod (Melds?), depending on whether the game of musical houses has finished by then or not.....

Excellent, I'll watch the thread with interest.

Hope there is, no way I have enough strength, rope and pulleys to heft Meldy over a wall!
I'm guessing, on reflection, that I may have inadvertently just crossed the thin line between comedy and suicide ...
It's been nice knowing you all!
