Yeti, glad you knee is feeling OK, hope you have a good run .
Was feeling chilled about it all until this morning and for some reason the nerves have kicked in.
Bev, I cant remember about last year as didn't use it, but don't worry there are always plenty of peeps around to help you and its always near by (might be the NIA / where showers are ?).
Hi All - several bag deliveries during the morning - please no valuables and nothing breakable - like your favourite china mug - you will be suprised wwhat some folk bring
Bag collect at the rear of the Malt Shovel along with goody bag collection.
Showers NIA
Beer - well everywhere I guess.
Thanks to all for your continued support of this event - enjoy the tunnel and the boats and the geese and the tunnel - have a great day
Looking forward to it, raced Wednesday night 5 mile and PB'd, knee was sore afterwards but swim last night did it the world of good, feet up today (well I am at work after all) .
Start time 9:15, which will get me to Brum ready for 11am bar opening.......planning or what
Weather looking almost perfect 16-19C and no wind... Early start for me from Cardiff on the train, looking forward to the P&P already, (is that wrong at 5am?)
Great race again, struggled towards the end but I went off too quick at the start.
Irondog, well done to you and all the marshalls and the canal boat people. Great race, great goodie bag, great route and I have never had a stick of rock in goodie bag before...
Getting it in the neck from my wife and daughter who both think the race was overdistance by at least half a mile. Is it? Otherwise greatly enjoyed by both.
thanks so much to all involved in organising and marshalling - it was fab - again
loved the goody bag
BB2 - it does seem to measure slightly more than a standard 1/2 yes, I remember someone saying last year that it is classed as a trail race which is allowed to be a certain% over - I think that's right
What a great race! The thing that topped it was meeting such friendly people. Especially Bob the military fitness chap who kept checking I was OK and the girl running for PSP- we both helped each other at the 6 mile lull when it got hotter. Sceery beautiful and great place to finish in Brindley place. I made it 13.3 miles, but sod it I had a great run and came in at 2h21. Hope everyone recovering well and not too sore tomorrow. Well done to all.
13.27 on my Garmin and it was definitely longer than .1 mile from the 13-mile marker! Last year I made it 13:29 I think....
It was never going to be a PB course for me on that surface, add in the bridges, tunnel, random yellow tube you had to jump over etc... I did 1:32:39 which is 4 mins over my PB - but I finished in a similar position to my PB time so I think it's around +4 mins for a 1:30-ish HM runner...
Still - another excellent morning out, friendly, well marshalled and a great goody bag - looking forward to next year already
My first half marathon too.. and like everyone else loved it.
Thought the route was brilliant, no cars to avoid, great to see the wildlife, marshals were fab, lots of lovely friendly runners offering encouraging words when needed or just there for a natter, water stations just when you needed them. Was brill. Came away with a real buzz from it.
Will be back for nexts year for def
Thank you everyone for making it an enjoyable day and appreciate all the hard work that goes on in the background. xxx
I measured it at about 21.5k, so suggesting about 400m over distance - did mean I kicked possibly a little early not realising this, especially with the guy at the start suggesting the finish comes up rather quickly on you. Just looking at my result of 1.32.14, I'm 1second over my HM pb, so fairly happy with how I ran. A very pleasant and interesting course considering the location.
Now I just need to find an accurate distance, fast HM in decent conditions - something seemingly impossible given my last five have failed to achieve this (or indeed any I've run)

See you next year.
First time today and loved it!! perhaps the Bham half could take a leaf out of your book on how organise a great event!! Well done all involved!!
Otherwise greatly enjoyed by both.
I enjoyed most of it this year, learnt from mistakes last year, and came in with a PB for half marathons.
There seemed more marshalls this year which was good, and maybe an extra drink station which was appreciated
First time doing the race. Ran with a good friend and we both loved every minute.
well done to everyone involved
