Ha I have tried the telephone call route. No answer, no doubt on a siesta. I was also thinking of the breakfast run as I arrive on the Friday at about lunch time so I will have had a decent look around and Saturday morning might help me work of the couple of beers I plan to have on the Friday night.
I ran 119kms last week and was knackered! My 10yr old told me that she was sick of her mummy being continually tired and that other mummies never complain of being pooped. I took a couple of days off and feel much better.
As no-one is particularly clued-up on bars in Barcelona why don't we meet at the fountains at a set time? I will definitely need a hot bath and a sleep before I can enjoy a drink. I will also have my marathon posse with me (husband & 4 children); hope no-one minds.
Can anyone help me with a conundrum? My last LSR was 30km with 900m of ascent. I would like to know how those 900m of effort equate to extra kms? I have posted the same question on Marathon Talk but haven't had a response yet.
Stephen Malcolm - the only similarity that I have with Paula Radcliffe is that we both have a crafty wee during a marathon! I would sell my eye-teeth for her speed & fitness. Thanks for the link.
First time posting after reading thread. Looking forward to Marathon, but just come down with flu. Trying to run it out of me with early morning 10miles this morning, but only got 8.5 miles round. Rest day tomorrow, so hopefully recover for Saturday.
Final stages of training now, so good luck everyone and hope everyone stays injury free.
Yippee! I am back in business. Confirmation e-mail was resent today. Thanks for the re-assurances from Carrot and Sarah, kept my panic down to a mild level.
Anyone else eating for England at the moment? I am constantly ravanous and have had fish and chips for lunch. Madness when I should be at the peak of my training not wanting to put on any extra pounds.
Yep KW, I am constantly eating at the mo, trying to munch fruit and veg as snacks, but cannot stop making flap jacks and they are much nicer with a cuppa.
Glad you got your email sent through, I was really panicky when I realised I lost it.
Good news then KW Re: eating lots, I'm known for constantly grazing all day at work on fruit, cereal bars, more fruit, rice or pasta for lunch and maybe a few slices of malt loaf a anyway, so as yet there's been no change!
Nice mileage there Elizabeth (or should it be kilometerage?)
I'm still waiting for our 3-day travelcards to be delivered.... Still no confirmation of dates for the Barcelona vs Zaragoza match.... fingers crossed for Sunday night and tickets will be purchased!
Not long to go before I can begin my constant checking of the weather forecast
Hadn't noticed about the food, but now you mention it, I have been working my way through packets of biscuitsand anything else in the cupboard.... especially in the evenings
Long range forcast has already been checked carrot , lol ... 16C highs for each day for the next 10 days!! Lets hope it's a little cooler for the sunday morning of the marathon.
Race starts at 8.30am so I would hope its not that hot at that time of the morning. Best get a shifty on though before it warms up. Speaking to a friend of mine today and he is aiming for 2.44.59 seconds at the up and coming Nottingham Marathon. I was green with envy at his speed.
Carrot - I can't see that there's any chance that Barcelona will play on the Sunday with the Second Leg of the Champions League v Arsenal on the Tuesday 8th. I won't be going to the footy if it's Saturday - wil need my rest before the big day !!
Supposed to be doing an 18 miler this weekend, not sure I can face yet another long slog - might just do a 1/2...What about anyone else ????
16C - looks like t shirt and shorts then, my legs haven't seen daylight since November !!!
I like the sound of "chilly" rather than warm/hot. It will be weird running with only one layer, rather than the three that I'm in at the mo. I ran today with only two layers and Capri tights which was a bit chilly, but made me run faster , good times
It may be a bit dodgy to hand over my passport deets to a courier (since we have to show ID to piclup our packs)...but maybe I can work my way around that by communicating with the organizers.

Its a race to get this `effing knee sorted.....
Ok now I`m starting to panic !!!!!
KW- sent two emails and then a few days afterwards I received the email, I did try and call as well, but that was a waste of effort :0)
Is anyone going to run the breakfast run on the sat? I was thinking about it.....

Happy tapering!
Elizabeth - you are Paula Radcliffe in disguise! The most I've ever done in a week is about 80k.
I can't find anything definitive about extra work going uphill but this link may help:

HI All!
I just signed up for the forums and I'm running Barcelona on the 6th!
I just realized that I wont be arriving until the eve before the race from London and of course the package pickup is that afternoon!
Urrrrrrrg.
Does anyone have any advice/tips on what I can do? or am I doooomed?!
I've emailed the organizers too but have yet to hear back.
I will be so bummed out if I botched this!
Thanks,
Simone
Hiya Simone, just had a quick look on the website and it says that you can pick up the bibs until 7.30pm on the sat. Can you get there in time?
Try and email the orgainisers and explain the situation, they might be able to do something. Best of luck.
Thanks Sarah.
I arrive at 9:30 unfortunately
I have emailed the organisers...
Noone to blame but myself here of course! Totally overlooked the whole 'get a race number' bit of the race :-/
Yiiiiikes.
I just called and they tell me it's 350 pounds to arrive 5 hours earlier (BA flight)
There were cheaper flights to the out of town ariport but to arrive at BCN...not so many options.
That's a really good idea. Thanks Elizbeth

The organizers will be just loooooving me!
Heh. That does make much more sense doesn't it?!
Good point!
I like this plan.
If I were the organizer, I would allow it!
Let's hope they feel the same.
Thx for your help/
