Done it!! I'm sure i miscounted, its nearly 1min quicker than I've managed before Tumble turns?!! think i'd end up swimming down or along the width if i tried one of them
Just posted my base time - done in a random length pool (27.4m apparently) so I hope it's OK to use a bit of maths to get a number for 400m. I've realised I actually am rather an ingrained sandbagger, as it took all my willpower not to log the 411m time to ensure plenty of room for improvement!
Had an email this morning from Winterswim. It contained an offer of a free swim hat if anyone is interested.
One of our Winterswim community has made up some swimming caps with the hashtag #swim and is offering them for free to any Winterswimmers who drop her a line. She says..." The #swim caps (swimming hats) were made after a group of triathletes who had been corresponding on Twitter met "in real life" but wondered how they would spot each other at the pool. With the "#swim" hashtag and swimming Twitter bird, you can't help but recognise a fellow Twitter swimmer poolside. Perfect as you clock the times for #winterswim (and not only for Twitter users). The #swim cap has been spotted all over the world - from the lakes of Kelowna Canada, to the Ironman Kona swim course. Caps have been sent to Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, the US and across the UK. The caps have even been attributed to increased mojo and great swims worldwide..."If you would like a #swim swim cap please email Donna on donna @ beatinglimitations . com which is also the address of her great website.

Hi everyone, just signed up for the challenge, and it will be, as I have only just managed to swim 400m non stop.
Missed out on round one but looking forward to the challenge, although really slow. Hope to break one minute for 50m at some point, very close but it has eluded me so far.
I usually get in the slow lane with breast strokers going slightly slower than my crawl speed, maybe I can sneak into the medium lane for the TT.
Just done my 50m. Got 41s, and am currently in 9th position! Though not many have logged times yet, so I expect that to go down significantly!
Pretty knackered now as the coach at the club (mostly kids) had forgotten to bring a Masters schedule, so I was left to my own devices. I ended up swimming 94 lengths, which is way more than I've ever done before.
Yeah - I'm still doing it. Need to get my 100M down. Was going to go on Sunday but I've sprained my ankle, so ended up resting it and going to do the 100M Thursday lunchtime. Deadline's Boxing Day isn't it?
Do any of you suffere from an allergy or sensitivity to the chlorine or ozone treatment used in swimming pools...? It is driving me mad.. within a couple of hours of finishing a swim my nose will be streaming and sneezing and this can last for about 48 hours. I have tried various hay fever tablets byt need to take 4 x dose to get any kind of reduction of the symptoms. A nose clip is out of the question.
Any one else suffer from this and have any bright ideas to stop it that doesn't involve an over-dose of tablets...?
I've changed pools because of this, When I first started training it was like a constant stream. I tried a few nasal inhalers first but made no difference.

Since the change of pool, no problem.
That's interesting.. do you know what the difference is between the two pools..?
Sorry to hear that CJ. My icy weather injury has been spraining ankle on a club run, but luckily for me, it hasn't stopped me swimming. How long an estimate before you can start swimming again?

I think one was chlorine and the other saline, there's certainly less irritation all round at the 2nd pool I use. I've only had one problem all season with a pool swim at a Tri, and that was the South West one which set my nose running again.

Finally got to log my time. Sun morn @ 8 is obviously the time to go. Had a lane to myself for the first 300M.
Bootsie - you're looking good on the stats.

Hat has arrived and tri swim coach remarked on it this morning.
Off to do my 50M on Sunday.
< Note to self: get your lazy rrrrrrrr to the pool before the weekend >

Itchy legs only for me. I Googled it and took the advice of a girl who's been swimming for years and it's cleared up.
Just did my 100M and pleased with the time of 2 mins. My 50M was 55 secs.
That's interesting.. do you know what the difference is between the two pools..?
Do you count strokes per length..? If so.. how many would this be..?
Did my 100m , but now out of competition as fell and broke arm.
So will have to make up some personal challenge for bike and dreadmill at gym, maybe see how long it takes me to do London to somewhere.
Did it
Best effort was 1:58 which surprised me. Rest were between 2:03-2:08 which is a bit slow, even for me.
