I know there is a consensus for Eastnor Middle this year and hence a large group going there but as I haven't done Bala yet and it fits better around other commitments for me, I think I am plumping for Bala as my warm-up for Regensburg.
Just wondering who else is doing Bala instead of (or as well as!) Eastnor? I thought there was a thread on this already but couldn't find it so started this one. I remember Cona was leaning towards Bala with me but any others out there???

I feel that Bala 2011 is likely to feature on my planned races for 2011, Even tho it is the OH's birthday I have been given permission to come out and play.

Bala is in june Cake........
I love Bala but unfortunately it clashes wioth the deca, triple, double single weekend.................
Great stuff Slim, i'll be racing in Bala again this year. 2011 is going to be a very similar IM prep to 2010, if it ain't broke......
I'll also be camping with the Mrs and Smudge over the raing weekend. Great race last year (although a little slow) and a beautiful part of the country to race in. I will not be beaten by those hills!!

As you say a fantastic part of the world and a great race. It also scores highly on the 'keep the family happy' points as Mrs Slim and the kids love it.
We'll be camping - same place, same time!

Although camping at the Vit was fun, the wife wasn't a big fan in the least and if I want her to come and support, may have to go for a B&B instead (although if I tell her Smudge is coming Cona she may be tempted...)
I think I'll be doing it again next year. Did it this year and loved it. Rented a cottage and stayed the week as we love the area. Will be doing this as a build up to Outlaw hopefully.
Cona, I think you may have overtaken me on the run this year, I think I recognise your tattoos from the photo - they were a helpfull distraction.

This fits better with IMR training plan that the Eastnor one. I have to beat those fecking hills this time, and finsh before they dismantle the entire transition area!!!
Camping is fab Mandel. The campsite next to the lake is lovely, and well set up, as FB says. Hot showers too
Just don't let Lee persuade you taht cycling the Bala course a couple of weeks before hand woould be a good idea !

I didn't have the greatest of bikes at Bala this year, but had a really enjoyable run. Pleanty of winter miles so hopefully help this year. I did it as a build event to Outlaw this year too and a great time to really challange yourself and still have plenty of time to recover prior to the Big One in late July!!!
The Tattoo's are a give away some times, have to be care shouting abuse as i'm easily identifyable...

I enjoyed our freezing cold pre-race jaunt. Glad we decided against a swim in the lake though.
I'd like to do this again now I'm a (bit) better cyclist and can go downhills.
