Waff the campsite is just next to a boat club, and there is a jetty you could go off for a swim. Don't think it will be a problem, and it is far enough away from the other event
That's what I thought Lee - and I just looked on the website which says there's a beach. I think I'll go straight to the campsite and get set up and swim etc, then go back to the leisure centre and register once the swimming event is out of the way.
I am hoping to arrive around midday. my initial thoughts are to go straight to the campsite and set up tent before going down to register. i was then hoping to have a little swim close to where transition is set up as we all did last year.
Hopefully we'll all see each other and can see how things turn out.
PS - for those camping that havn't been before i recommend taking a couple of bricks to rest your BBQ on as i was scrabbling around for ages last year looking for some suitable stones!
This is my last stint on the intranetweb before heading over to that Wales tomorrow, so good luck everyone, check and double check those kit lists before packing, rest up when you can, and best of luck for Sunday.
Not sure what time we will get there tomorrow as I have to do a 4hour bike before I go. Have set alarm for 5am though so shouldn't be too late. Will hopefully be there for the swim session.
forecast is not that great so am glad I will only be doing the swim (though it will be a wet spectate that is for sure!)
just popped in to wish all pirates doing Bala the best of luck and look forward to the race report............
this is my favourite race and was my first pirate race...............so a bit sad to miss it this year
race strong and enjoy it............
With the weather thats forcast, your going to be the one enjoying it Seren. Up to 40 mm of rain expected on higher ground (like the mountains of North Wales). The swim might be the warmest & driest part of the race.. Here's hoping its another forcast thats wrong!
Last year it was wet in bits, but not tooooo cold, so fingers crossed for nothing worse!
I was quite pleased to see the water temp was 13C - we've been swimming in 8.5C up here, so that will be positively balmy!!!
My boss has just told me he's leaving early today, so I will be too, sweet! More time to organise myself. I figured if I did it last night, i'd just have to check it all today anyway, when panic set in.
I'm aiming to set off at about 8am tomorrow, so should be there for about 1:30pm, assuming a stop along the way somewhere.
I have no recollection of what i did last year, but i'm worrying about what to do with shoes when we go for the swim. I'm sure I wasn't standing in bare feet for hours beforehand. Must have given them to someone to carry?! Oh and I think my trainers must have been on too tight yesterday, because today the top of my left foot is killing me I think my body is coming out in protest at all this tri malarky, finally it has had enough Anyway, it shall be fine i'm sure. Nerves are setting in because i'm just typing sh*te now. Must go and get on with work....
Lee - I use sacrificial flip flops. Kick them off as you enter the water. If they're still there when you get back (from the run), great. If not - who cares.

Go Pirates
I'l be thinking of your all
You can easily swim across from Pant Yr Onnen and Glanllyn. Don't know about the others. Just be aware of the boats if you are crossing!!
Charity swim is following the race course so will be no where near the campsites.
