But the fun bit is, it's geek heaven as you can see all sorts of calculations, comparisons and statistics. And it has a leaderboard etc which I know really motivated people last time.
It really is geek heavan. The amount of time people were putting into analysing the daily results was unbelievable.
Oh and yes, it's on the honor system. I think the biggest gripe was folks putting up much higher miles than normal, and people not logging in for a while and then logging big miles, all at once.. I think everyone was on their best behavior though.
Personally, I logged my miles as often as I had internet access. We know some folks are on Holiday etc. and can't, but not logging in for 2 weeks and then showing 200 miles at the end of the month for those weeks will get some scrutiny.
I think everyone takes it for what it is, a nice way to keep up motivation during the cold and dark of January.
I know I picked out a few folks who were running about the same mileage I was and that really helps the motivation. Sort of like in a real live race eh?
Can't wait! This was so much fun before and the most miles I'd ever done in a single month. I agree, the spreadsheet thingie is great. I picked a couple of people to "chase" too. Thanks KK for setting it up again.
DJ - So, you got into Boston? How long did it take for you to get through?
I heard some folks got in only after logging in 82 times! Before I knew it it was closed! Not looking forward to the new quilifying standards.
That's the thing about Boston, having to train from Jan through April, well at least March. Fall marathons are much easierl. I would imagine you up north there really are at a loss for daylight during that stretch of time.
Although I achieved a qualifying time (London 3:20), I purchased a package through 209 sports events so my wife could get entry too.
Running in the dark can be a little hazardous, but it helps in one way, as I tend to train at a faster pace than I should, therefore I run slower in the dark
So that's the plan, get your wife to go with you. Very smart indded!
I'm a small marathon runner, the Duke City marathon here in Albuquerque. Nothing like London. Boston would have been my biggest. Supposed to be a great experience. Hope you and DW have a good time while you're here.
I think I tend to run too fast in the dark, mostly because I'm trying to keep warm! It's already -6 C in the mornings and winter hasn't hit yet.

It would be really good, I cant believe I've missed out on this in the previous year/years?

Hi wallmurr -waves-
Hey Vixx! Nice to see you again.
How have you been doing, running and otherwise?
I've been pretty busy this fall. Luckily things are slowing down for me. Just in time for the Holidays, we get to kick 'em off next week.
