  • Ah, go on then...

Mileage - don't know about running or cycling.

    PB's this (my first) year:
    5k - 19:21
    10k - 39:46
    HM 93:44
    Mara 3:22:31

  • PBs this year:

    HM - 1:32:05

    Mara - 6:20:04 image

  • PBs for the year:

    HM: 1:22:36

    Mara: 2:59:06

  • KeirKeir ✭✭✭
Wow Ant, your pretty fast (note to self: buy orange t-shirt and union jack shorts for future pb attempts)
  • Some very impressive times. Looks like Abo's going to be full even quicker this year but it is a very good marathon.   It was full before the end of April this year but a lot of the reserves got in.  Mileage for this year 1399.  PB's for this year:

    5k        19:34

    5M       32:36

    10k     39:47

    HM     1:27:25

    Mara   3:21:10

4 miles slow for me this afo slipping and sliding in the ice/slush, long one tomorrow gonna have to be on the  treadie.  Don't you just love it when you get a compliment about your running.  OH was speaking to a friend of hers who said she had seen me running out in the countryside, I can feel a compliment coming, "does n't he look skinny, looks like a stick insect"  wonderful.

  • A great year of achievement chaps - I was holding off posting mine but here goes:

    5k - 20.26 (first ever!)
    6k - 24.04
    10k - 41.26
10m - 1.07.07 (untapered four weeks before VLM - really chuffed with that one)
    HM - 1.32.39
    Marathon - 3.14.53

Miles run - 1409 (biggest ever)

Target for 2011 - lose the soft pbs on 10k and HM

Just ran 13.5 miles home in the snow/slush/ice - completely knackering - it took just shy of 2 hrs!!!

  • Can some kind tecchie type put me in for Abingdon too - target 2.49.59

    Only one PB this year

    Marathon - 2.59.56

    Targets for 2011 - 80 min HM, sub 2.50 mara, sub 36 10k, sub 17.30 5k....we can all dream !!

Some good Abingdon 2011 targets being posted.  I may have a rest after VLM and work on the speed.

Nice mid-week long run AC in what sounds like tough conditions.

It's not quite the end of the year but since we're having a statfest:

Miles 2346 (so far including today's 13 on the treadmillimage)
    PBS:
    10K 38:07
    HM 1:22:12
    Mar 2:58:44

nice half time SBD.  image I'm having mine too....

Miles 2302 (so far, and to be fair I've done F all for four of those months).
    PBs:
    5k 17:18
    10k 34:49
    10M 57:56
    HM 1:15:50
    Mar: 2:39:12

I went for a run tonight and although it was awful, it was brilliant to be out there and happy to have made it home from Florida on Monday evening. Nightmare journey but looking forward to a good Chrimbo now.

FW it's good to dream. I'm going to dig up the targets I set for myself as I'm pretty sure I smashed all of them, you will too fella.

  • Blimey, massive miles by some of you. Anyone in the eye -watering region of 2000+ deserves loads of success.

    So far:
    Miles 1610
    PB: 50m - 7.19 image
    PW: Mara - 4.20 image
    P2ndW: Mara - 4.14  image

    There's a pattern somewhere...

As Peters & Lee might have crooned, "welcome home" Jase!

Glad you made it home RJ. Did you have any Planes, Trains and Automobiles moments? "Those arn't pillows!"

    edit - x-post. Nice 50 there Poacher.

  • Good to see you're back in blighty RJ -you'll prob detect a subtle contrast here to tropical Florida

Have people seen the RW six forums (informal fora for those who applied for Asics six but didn't make it) Could make for some interesting reading - I'm not sure exactly what schedules the mentors will be suggesting but there's more than a sniff of healthy rebellion in the air !

Which statto fancies working out if there's a valid correlation between our annual mileage and mara PB !??

  • KeirKeir ✭✭✭
    or HM to M pb?
  • Mileage so far - 787

    PBs this year

    5k - 18:44
    5 miles - 30:35
    10k - 39:13
    10 miles - 1:02:57
    Half Mara - 1:25:15
    20 miles - 2:23:03
    Mara - 3:11:37

That's the third year on the trot I've broken all those PBs for those distances, except the 20 miles which was cancelled in 2008 so I didn't run one competitively.

  • BOTF I'm sure everyone is thinking the same - your MPW to PB ratio is outstanding
  • Blimey, you're all a bit premature with this aren't you? There's well over a week of the year left yet!

Mileage so far: 1634 running plus 2 (yes TWO) on the MTB

    PBs
    Mile 5.49.3
    5M 33.08
    10k 41.19
    10M 69.48
    Mara 3.19.33
50k 4.09.xx but split up over 24 hrs

Still a 5km to come on Xmas day but I can't see it being a PB given the weather and my lack of race fitness. Not to mention the fact that it's on Christmas day! Missed out on the HM due to being ill/injured for target races.
  • Couldn't agree more Speedy - sounds like some people have finished for the year already!

But as we're on the subject, here are my stats for 2010:

Mileage so far: 1,895 plus 1,316 on the bike (the bike mileage is about double last year's)

    PBs:

    10K: 40:32
    10m: 69:22
    HM: 87:59
    45m: 7:47:00

Sadly, I was 1:20 off my marathon PB (3:13:23) so some unfinished business there.

Also completed 2 tough (in my mind anyway!) duathlons, so not too bad a year all round

I've decided that if it's good enough for PO10 then I'd better accept itimage  That said I'd still like to break it on an alternate officially measured courseimage  Perhaps I need to go easy on the mince piesimage

Well done on making it back into the country.  You might need some of these Yaktrax thingies that have been discussed ...

  • Stats for the year for me so far are:

1905km (or 1183m for the europhobes image)

    new PBs this year

    hm - 01:35:06
    m - 03:27:22s

i think i will just sneak in over 2000km for the year.

targets for next year are sub20 5k, sub40 10k sub1h30 hm and sub 3h15 mara all of which would be PBs

  • Glad you made it home, RJ.

Some impressive stats peeps. Looks like it's been a good year.

Recovery run for me today. Back to the field this morning as yesterday's snow has left the pavements too treacherous for running. 9 laps = 4.2 miles @ MP+30%. So just passed 100 miles for December.

  • Thought you'd never make it, Jase! Now to enjoy your Christmas.

13.1m @ 7:35mm, av 132 bpm. Those are the stats for tbis mornong's effort, but they don't tell the whole story.

I woke up several times in the night and heard the rain lashing down, and thought to myself, was it really necessary to get up and out early just so I could say I'd done so many miles? In the greater scheme of things would ten or so miles less make any difference? Of course they bloody would, so up I got and was out the door by 7.

Conditions were abysmal. Not normally given to exaggeration, I will say that I have rarely seen or felt such torrential rain, or at least. I've never had to run in it. And those gusts of icy wind... After two minutes I had one of those headaches you got as a kid from eating ice-cream too quickly...but soon, as you all know, this  torture develops into a kind of perverse pleasure, heightened by people giving you funny looks as they struggled to work under strainning umbrellas.

So, 1 hour and 39 minutes of fun and games, and now...my Christmas holidays!

  • Another good early start there Gul - at least the days are getting longer now!

Good set of targets there DM - are you prioritising any one over the others?

I haven't seen them - where are they?

Rest day today but plan to be out tomorrow morning - looks as though there still snow on the paths through the woods so hopefully the mile or so on the road to get up to the tracks won't be too slippery.

  • Lorenzo - x-post - a rest day? For you? What is the world coming to?!
  • Ant - great early doors half marathon in the rain. Al ot of people would have either stayed inside or cut it short.

Blimey, a lot of people had some good running this year with all the PB's.

Not sure how many miles I've done this year but have just passed the 2,500 mark since last April, so probably about 1,250 as I was marathon training this year.

Season best of 1.26.22 for the Half marathon and only PB of the year was 3.22.10 for the marathon (it was a PB by default as I've never done one before!)

  • Nice run Antonio.

My legs feel marmalised by yesterday's 13.5m jaunt through the snow and ice. And my head is a bit fuzzy from a late Christmas do last night.

Can someone in the know post a link to the spurned six thingy?

  • Some huge mileages from SBD/RJ/FW the sub 3 club, when compared to AvO also sub3 on lower mileage, if you can't get the endurance mileage in.......get the quality in.   Right or wrong?image

Doffs cap to BOTF's PB's off such limited mileage.
Nice set of targets being dished out by all, may have to think of some myself.

Good outing from AC and AvO, yesters and this morning respectively.

Well second half of my split 12 miles run as a double yesterday evening to add to the (previously reported) morning effort of 5.8m, with 11.25m in the evening  @8:25mm.  Don't think I've quite got the hang of splitting the mileage yet........
Not a quick effort but considering snow/slush, darkness and rucksack, that'll have to do.

AC. The snubbed six are the ones entitled "RW Six" on VLM thread "Martin H departmentalised by Gobi" is the sub3 thread equivalent, I believe.

  • Having done a quick analysis of the times put up so far it seems that (RaceJase aside) we're all pretty much of a similar standard. The majority can get under 90mins but the conversion from sub 90 to quick marathons is not that great.
It really does highlight the number one issue that it's all about endurance first and foremost. We all seem to have speedy 5k/5mile/10k times and most of us can convert those times to good halfs but we all pretty much fall down when it comes to the marathon.
The exceptions are Ant and SBD who both have 82min HM times (82m36 to 82m12s) and similar marathon PB's - 2h59m06s to 2h58m44s
I know we're dealing with a small subset/sample group but it does back-up the fact that you will need a HM of 90mins or under to be in with a good shout of going sub 3h15. As with the faster runners on here going sub 3, you need to go WELL under what the online calculators say you should be capable of at a half to achieve your goal

Interesting that RJ has done less miles over the year than SBD but has better PB's. It's not about the total annual miles but how much you can pack in during your campaign
