Up early! About to head for Exmoor and its raining and windy!
Minni: Am i OK to be racing? Not really but its a sportive not a race! nice YKW there, wish i could run that fast at present.
Spoons: on the cycling thing remember that 50% of an IM is spent on the bike. It really is all about the bike, cyclists have an advantage in tri, you need to become one.
Off for a run this morning it's been raining which is good, then taking our dog to my family in Warwickshire who are looking after her while were away - will be strange not having her around
Couldn't run Tuesday, Wednesday electrocution (seriously) when my physio lady massaged calfs, ultrasound and then buzzy electrode thing on calfs... Made my calf go into spasm, like another cramp.
Ran Thursday but calf still a bit sore so undecided if this was mad.
Met the lovely O4S 6am ish then ran with a friend till 2 miles before the end to finish in 10h 35m.
More info after I have demolished the unlimited breakfast and tea, I shall be doing my best cowboy walk.
Nice one FRC. My ultra friend who I will be running it with next year finished in 9.xx I'm starting to get nervous about it already. I believe O4S knocked a massive amount from her time last year too.
Minni I'd love your Park run time - not going to run one now for a few weeks. Concentrating on building up miles, coach not happy I've been slacking lately
Just missed out on my sub-3:15 target today - unofficial result is 3:15:14. So close! It was hard work, you forget just how hard marathons are when you're just breezing through training and ticking sessions off the spreadsheet!
A PB by about 3 and a half minutes so I'm not complaining, 3:15 was to get a championship place for VLM but I can get that with my GNR time.
Parsnip did 2:56:49
Race report will be done Tuesday night when I'm back home. Strong Dutch beer is calling!
Carrot - Congrats on the PB, very well done, I know the so close feeling very well. Enjoy the celebrations. We'll smash 3:15 at Barcelona.. Well done to Parsnip.
Carrot - thats an amazing time and you've put such a hard year of training in. Sorry you missed out by 14 seconds but a fantastic shiney new pb. And well done to parsnip.
Carrot: very nice indeed, as they say in Dubai ... Mabruk.
So Minni was right, im not OK to ride a very hilly 100 miles, felt awful from the off all sorts of gut issues, plus feeling sick. Took the sensible option and turned off onto the 70 mile course, which still had 2000M of climbing. The climb up to Dunkery Beacon on Exmoor was the longest 15% plus climb i have ever done, sea level to 500M straight up the hill, no bends just straight up, unbelievably hard. So did 70 miles in 4 hours 12 mins, was dying at 50 miles then a group of about 7 went by, sprinted to get on the group and then rode off the front with two others belting the last 20 miles in under a hour. Just finished and the heavens opened. Nice engraved beer tankard and cycle shirt.

spoons, you did WHAT?? Rather you than me ... a client at work did 14 IMs, 3 of them in Hawaii. PB is 10 hours. nutter....
2old: what did the achilles say after your run?
Bro: enjoy getting hammered
Gazza: nice reps.
Have not run yet. Hangover .....
DD Good luck with Exmoor Beast tomorrow
Official YKW time 29.54 better than I thought I still enjoyed the run though as it was good to be back out there
Good luck to all those racing tomorrow
YKW for me this morning, first one in 7 months, Finished 20:52 - 6:38, 6:38, 6:47 and 6:06 for the last bit. Not disappointed with that.
Hope Carrot is ready!
Very impressive time Minni congratulations
Minni - Under 21mins is a great time, how far off your Pb is it?
Do we know what the start time is for Carot, Amsterdam is +1hr?
Only 13 seconds Simon. I'm really useless at 5k unless I've done a few close together and even then I'm not that impressive, so pretty pleased.
DD - are you ok to be racing?
13 miles on the bike today. Easy. Don't know what all the fuss is about....
My first outing with cleats and i didn't fall off either!
Nice YKW minni
fingers crossed for Carrot
Minni - 13secs, is only 1.04% above your Pb, not bad for 1st one in 7mnths. Yes I a bit sad with numbers.
Spoons - keep the tension light on the springs on your cleats, so it's easier to release, when that Oh Sh*t moment happens.

I tried to edit 4-5 times, and it wouldn't let me, so I resubmitted, and now it's edited
.... and it will happen. ????

DD - well done for toughing it out
Popped out for a quick 15 miles on the bike this afternoon. Still haven't fallen off yet!!
Carrot + Parsnip - awesome times, well done to both of you!!
D.D - well done for toughing it out, my idea of a nightmare climbs like that, an engraved tankard is quite a cool momento
Brilliant PB Carrot, congratulations to you & Parsnip - go & enjoy the well deserved beer.
Well done DD
