Evening! Just logging in to see how Ali and ST did. Well done! Sounds like a tough race. But you are now marathoners. Congratulations
Sorry I haven't been around much. Just really, really busy. Cat - sounds like a lovely week.
Ali - you can't stick your trainers in the washing machine cos it melts the glue and does other technical stuff I don't remember. If they are really bad then just wash them off in a bucket of cold water. Then stuff with newspaper and dry them with warm heat (ie on table beside radiator, not on top of roasting hot radiator). Change paper regularly. You can machine wash the laces through.
Hi all everything good apart from right knee still it feels bit better this morning I can bend it slowly now stupidly already looking for next Marafun, I have some unfinished business now
What you planning next Ali? I was surprised at most runners I spoke to had either done 100+ marathons? Or one bloke was on 77 and a lot do one a month lol

Well done ST and Ali!!! That sound like a really tough marathon and all in rain as well. Very proud of you two! You made it ST! Is he gonna get cake for that???
First one is always special. ST I've got clown half next There is a few cool kids doing stockport 10 in december if your able to get a number through and fancy it. I think razor's down for it as well?
Yep ST you are indeed certifiable. I'm not against doing another one but currently I'm fine with my plan as it stands. I also can't see how people can run futher than that.
Those last 6 miles were tough, although I did over take a few people in those last few miles which I'm rather pleased with.
The provisional results are up and I was a tad quicker than the clock time so all good.
I'm off to see the sports massage chap tomorrow just for an mot to make sure everythings OK and just needs rest.
No snow thats rubbish but with look you might get lucky soon.
ST that Belvoir race is interesting. Goggled it and thinking it might be a good one for the missus and in case chilli is about it's on a saturday!!!!! Linky just in case
Well done you mad marathoners. Now you have done one, concentrate on the training for Outlaw, that will be enough. Recover from the race and then get going again.
Still snotty and grotty so no exercise done at all, unless you can count a bit of stretching as exercise.
well, feeling a bit more positive since going to the physio, he isn't convinced it is the cartilage, but when I bend my knees or twist my upper body to the side my left knee falls in, so I guess the amount of times it does that over a long a run is the problem. He has given me some exercises to do and said cycling and swimming should be ok but not running. I need to be able to walk first though!
not going to commit to the belvoir marathon until I know how leg is going, don't want to knacker it again in the run up to outlaw/outlaw half
Aw Steady, lot of man flu about. take it easy for a bit. Hopefully Ironcat not bringing more bugs to the forum.... Maths - glad you're getting some positivity. Easy to get bogged down by injury. See is as opportunity to strengthen your other aspects. Cake - how's the groin? ST - you moving better? Enjoy the massage Ali, most jealous. Well managed gym session yesterday, night shift last night. Aiming to do short run in a mo then back to work tonight. Nights and training don't mix!
Chilli your an ultra runner 120 miles is a Sunday morning training run come on its on a Saterday and theirs cakes at feed stations on way round you and kids and Daniel Craig could have some dinner round ours afterwards.
Leg fine now thanks, although not 100% yet, still seems like no permanent damage had major stomach cramps yesterday most painfull thing ever. Not sure if it's a bug? From taking gels Sunday? Or something I ate yesterday morning. So now sat at home feeling sorry for myself

Mikasa are you building a snowman today?
I know exactly when my next marathon is, July 7th 2013 at Holme Pierrepont. I'm trying not to worry about having to swim and cycle at bit before hand.

I was like that before I went away. It cleared up briefly, and is now back again. I think it has something to do with running in the rain
Not sure I can be arsed to swim tonight, and I haven't ridden a bike since a week Tuesday.
ST - how's your leg?

I have been out on my bike for second day running Just a couple of miles but I am determined to get hang of cycling. Went swimming too.
Mmmm, Belvoir sounds nice and it is on a Saturday, but also about 120miles away from where I live That's an awful lot of petrol.
Hope your massage goes well Ali
Hope you are feeling better soon Steady
ST - have you recovered? How is your leg?
most likely a bug ST - the gels from Sunday won't have lasted long enough to effect you yesterday
