OK, let's tempt the weather gods again and have some apres dark fun in Richmond Park before hitting the pub. Lirish assures me that only the vehicle gates are locked at dusk, and the pedestrian gates stay open all night. Thinking a cheeky 2-3 laps, maybe one Friday night, late enough start to be dark but early enough to finish before closing time.
Meldy - does this work with your shift/birthday plans ?
If you need an excuse to buy a headtorch, grab an alpkit gamma here for £12.50 including postage
Who's in ?
Comments
2 laps after work, cool, uber late not cool.
Someone misses the Outback then?
Saffers - sure we can sort something, sling our little bloke in our room and you can have his room ? BYO stuffed toys though, and be prepared to be pummelled in the morning
This one has a red LED on the back as well, so you can follow me if you trust me DB, just bought one half an hour ago
ha ha ha ha ha!
Guessing if we stayed together it would be c.9-10 min miling?
oooh ... we cycling then?
21st works for me, and the bling new head torch should be here by then.
Any other takers for the 21st ?
Just as well I checked, I thought I had an indoor tri for that weekend- turns out it's the week before. Need to buy a calendar but should be able to take a turn through the park. I should also have a spare head torch somewhere.
FF - Is that Leatherhead? for the indoor try.
The Alpkit Gammas are great, I have two, and a couple of (well OK 3) Petzl's. Big ones, small ones, bright ones, old ones, new ones:
So if I can get a pass I should be able to kit everyone out! Wil lurk before committing and work on the TPO - although she is being kind in January - cos she has fecked February with having a baby - like I need that I am supposed to be training for an IM!
Meface
Or should that be staying out of bed for
The idea Plumster is to get to the pub before closing, so too many laps prevents too many beers if you see what I mean. Was thinking might do a midnight marathon version at some point, ie 4 laps starting at midnight, and maybe go to the pub before hand Just be there and stop faffing.
Meface - very inconsiderate of the TPO, cant she hang on for a bit ?
So would anyone local care to propose a hostelry to aim for? Three laps is going to be 3 hours plus-ish, so maybe staggered starts eg.
6pm 3 lappers
7pm 2 lappers
8pm 1 lappers
9.30-ish pub
11.00-ish rush to catch last train to xxxx.
Of course schedule can be moved forwards/backwards etc
If the park is going to be closed is there parking nearby?
I'm in, although six might be a little early start for me to get from work.
Woodman at Putney Heath is one possibility pub wise?
I can't do this now owing to hamstring problems
but my usual post-Richmond-park pub is the new inn near Ham gate
Saffers - if you want some company on a 12/min mile lap then I'm your dragon! I don't fancy running round RP in the dark on my own and this lot are all way too fast for me. We could run the opposite way to the rest of them so we'd meet somewhere in the middle.
But I might be too slow for you and you'll get cold.
I now have visions of bumping into Saffers and Soupy head on in the dark in the park.
We could even arrange to be flashing if you want. (headlights that is before you get too excited)
