JM - good man! Cake - the bottles thing, for a number of years we have had great support off Highland Spring and our water has been donated. we have only had to purchase a couple of times. The problem with bottles is people carry them for some distance and in the HM we end up having to trawl the entrire course and pick them up and fish them out of hedges, gardens and other inappropriate places that runners throw them!!! They should just be dropped on the side of the road for ease of collection.
Alan - I know you'll think I'm nuts, but I feel really strongly about the bottle dropping thing. I've been known to carry my bottle to the next water station so nobody thinks I'm a litter bug!
As far as I'm concerned, if I decide I want to hang on to my bottle for a while longer than a few yards (and I do sometimes) then I always look for a place that it can easily be collected. It is my ABSOLUTE PET HATE to see people bunging them twenty feet into scrub. You're not going to go through the brambles to find it and as far as I'm concerned that is LITTERING and makes them scumbags. My mum brought me up better than that.
Perhaps it would be an idea to have designated "drop zones"? I'd use them and I'm sure others would too.
You'd not get them all, because some people are simply dirty buggers but you'd at least be looking for less.
Should do what they do in the Marathon Des Sables and anyone dropping the bottle in the wrong place gets additional minutes added to their time. That would stop it!!!
im in too!! staying with family in pensby so only flifgts to get!
on the bottle thing, i agree its not a big job to drop against the kerb! the same people who dont care where they throw them are the same people who park on double yellow lines, across two spaces in car parks etc! inconsiderate peolple!
I'm chuffed to say that I am registered for this and I am also really pleased for Liverpool and the good people at RunLiverpool that this is going ahead.
Will there be more info coming along about parking / times etc? And more importantly how to get back after the race? It looks like the race finishes the other side of the tunnel from the start.
Cant wait as its going to be my first marathon and hopefully the best!
i have a place in Liverpool half marathon 2011 but unfortunately due to calf injury will not be able to run, gutted as it was my first half, if anyone would like my place in exchange for a donation to my chosen charity please let me know
Exchanges are not permitted Gill. No refunds/exchanges/deferrals. People took the p*ss out of the race organiser and he got fed up with it. If you get caught transferring you will both be in trouble and you might find you get a ban before you've ever even run a race!
Sorry to hear about your injury. I know how utterly gutting it is when you've put the effort in and you can't get to the start line on the day.
Don't let it put you off though. We've all been there. And when the injury is healed and you're ready to go again, the feeling of elation when you make that start line (and then cross the finish) is as good as if you've won it!
Gill - LB is right. The high number of requests for refunds, deferrals and transfers has become ridiculous. It's no longer possible for us to manage and I can't encourage I'm afraid.
I wondered where this thread had gone! Opened it so we can focus on the RunLiverpool title rather than the Mersey Marathon which has gone by the wayside now.
toda I ran the Stafford 20 today consisted of hills, hills and more bloody hills. With all those hills it was a struggle to get into any kind of rythm at all,I really had to dig in from start to finish especially as i`d only managed 1x 18 miler in training, today was always gonna be a big challenge.I managed to stick to my plan of 6:30 minute miling all the way round but in a very erratic fashion.Conditions were very good and in the end I was well pleased to finish in 2:10:14. I`ll try and do a linkythingymabob to my garmin for anyone whose nerdy enough to have the slightest bit of interest
LB, i dont know where i finished but i might have just sneaked into the top 20, it was a midlands championship race so there were some very good county runners
405 is easy to use, you show me yours and i`ll show you how it works, fnar fnar
IJakesy - f you can run at that pace with lots of hills how much faster do you think you'll be on a flatter course. I've always wondered if doing a lot of hills in training (which I have been doing) would help my pace much in a race.

Jakesy - I've got a 405 and I haven't got a bloody clue how it works! You'll have to show me how to do that!
Pace looks nice and even. That's a blooming good run! You must have been up there with the winners at that pace?
