Their stats are a bit confusing. They were saying a couple of weeks ago that you would have a 3:10 chance for UTMB and 1:2 for CCC, but that doesn't tally to the figures released today which show far more favourable odds than that. Anyway, it looks about the same as last year when I got in the CCC. In for the TDS this year, so no worries for me
Here's still two weeks to enter the ballot isn't there? Though I imagine most of those who would be interested are already in, maybe people are staying away because the run of course changes over the last few years
I think the numbers seem off because some people with have their name in the hat twice, it may also be that the some of the allocation are guaranteed entries too.
Still not entered ccc yet, probably will do, going to see how my foot feels early next week and maybe even get it x-rayed to make sure nothing is broken.
I've thrown an entry in. Am really hoping for a Tor Des Geants place, but might as well try for UTMB too as chances for both are slim! The odds made no sense to me either!!!! Fingers crossed for the 18th...
I hadn't realised the TdG had gone to a ballot entry as well but it seems it has, having just looked at the site you need to pay a 50??? registration fee wch is non refundable if you don't get in, bit of a piss take if you ask me
Just to clarify, the way they've translated the status of the races is misleading. 160% full actually means 160% over-subscribed (ie, 260% full).
CCC says 115% full which in reality means that it's 115% over subscribed (ie, 215% full).
TDS has had 1000 entrants. Last year over 1450 started so it looks like entrants in that are guaranteed to get a place without need for a draw. I have entered this having had a place in the past six UTMBs but withdrawing with injury last year. Time for something new I guess. Can't wait.
Have entered the draw for the CCC. In case I get in, anyone has an idea of the best way to train fro mountains while leaving in London considering that I can't really afford travel to the mountains on week ends?
Lirish - re TdG, tell me about it! Massive piss take. It has all changed this year. I'm set on doing it, so will suck it up, but it will leave a pretty bitter taste in my mouth!
Sorel there has to be some hills near where you live, whereabouts are you?
Bart I was on the wait list year and even that was a struggle, the website kicked me out half a dozen times when I tried to apply and when I finally got through it wouldn't take payment, by the time I did get access it was full up and I was put onto the wait list, never heard anything more from them at all
No doubt it's an awesome race but the organisation leaves something to be desired
VS - If you can't get yourself to somewhere hilly to train like Lake District/Brecon/Snowdonia then you will have to make do, either find a hill where you can perform reps or get to some stairs/steps? You will have to go up and down a few times!
I also found fast track sessions helped my leg strength, 400m reps for example. It is not climbing specific but is useful for strength.
VS - Brecon is pretty accessible from London. Failing that, get down to Boxhill/North Downs. Very easy to get to and yuo can run up and down Boxhill to your hearts content....
Lirish - I heard of several people suffering the same problem as you - total nightmare! Oh well, I've got Lakeland 100 booked in so if I can't get into UTMB or TDG, I'll focus on that! Are you in for L100 again too?

Cheers Dan. That makes more sense.
I guess that increasing the entry criteria to 7 points, did not produce the dividends I hoped it might!
In for CCC
Scary stuff looking over the map - lots of contours! Can't decide if I want to get lucky in this ballot or not!

VS - use a stepper at the gym, or do lots of long stair climbs - for hours on end....
good luck to the balloteers in getting their wishes
