That hill goes up past the Turner Contemporary Art Centre so there may (or may not) be something to look at! At the moment there are more entrants for the full than the half marathon so hopefully won't be too lonely.
I'd imagine with those aeroplane arms you flew up that hill last yr RJ
I'm in. Last year I did the HM and had a battle with a V65 (almost twice my age). Guess how great I felt when I managed to out sprint him him for the finish line.....only to realise he was continuing to do the Full distance!
Having read all the comments on this race, I have decided to go for the marathon. I was considering just doing the half, but have done a few this year, mixed in with a couple of 10, 15 & 20's so really feel that it's time to go for it! Also, I think it will be the ice breaker I need before the NY marathon in Nov! See you all there.
I've been suffering with an ankle injury for a while and wasn't sure that I should run this (Faversham in July took an hour more than previous year and a while to recover), but have kept going and decided this morning that ok to at least complete it. But too late!
I have sent an email to the event address but not sure about risking a long drive to Margate for a risk of not getting in to the full.
Anyway, for those of you in, have a good run. I have done the full the last 3 years and recommend it to you all (just watch out for the sea breeze, it'll get you at some stage of the 2nd half!)
I've already starting checking the weather forecast. Can't see it being too hot, so my worry (as usual) is the wind - I did not like the sound of QB's sea-breeze warning! Any other local climate knowledge?
The long range is finally up on metcheck - 15C, dribble of rain for the morning, bit of cloud, NNW wind 13mph - so might even have the sea breeze in favour in the last quarter! No doubt it will all change, and summer will finally arrive.....
to quote "transfixed by that hill on the profile at the 25.5 mile point. " i can report as this has been a regular 10 mile training run for me, that it is only 77 gentle steps up that hill towards the police station, (which is my lucky number!)
this will be my first ever marathon so if i get to count those 77 steps next weekend i will be a very, very happy man. having started running last year at 50 years old i have received nothing but kind words and acts of support from Thanet Road Runners, I managed to get my distance up to 18 miles yesterday and now as i taper down! I hope the support will carry me home those last 8 miles.
Not the best start to a taper. Did a 20m run today, after a 5th place in the Pilgrims Way run yesterday and a 24miler earlier in the week. Considering whether it would be wise or stupid to accept a free invite to a 5k at Samphire Hoe on Weds.

I'll be there in the 2nd half.
How is training going for everyone?
So far so good for me, got a couple of 20 milers under my belt, and another due this weekend.
Slightly transfixed by that hill on the profile at the 25.5 mile point.
Aran, I did the race last year and that last hill is a bit of a tease.....
It is a fantastic race put on by a lovely club.

See you all there.
Online and postal entries close today. I will try and get all numbers/packs for entries received out by the end of this week.
There will be a limited number of on the day places at £20.00 on a first come first served basis.

Are we due to get anthing in the post like a number or route plan?
NQAH if you entered online via RW your race info will come via email and the last numbers went in the post yesterday.
Thanks again JFDI, much appreciated and looking forward to it
Best part of entering late is that I must have a lot of tapering and carb loading now to do this weekend...
