And it has to be said, if the way this thread is degenerating, my triathlon friends are indeed very silly!

Is it time to boing this thread for any new folks.
So due to a chest infection (Serious with x-rays and everything) and an ear infection my run training has taken a real hammering.
In fact my mileage is as follows:

May 21
June 6 (excluding today)
I am now better but a bit terrified of running as I know it will hurt. Being stupid I thought the best way to get over it was to get some miles in. So I set my strategy for a Run/Walk day on the North Downs. Got the train to Guildford with the intent of run/walking home. The leg to Dorking is about 13 miles with some options to cut-off for home earlier or complete it with about 5 miles home from the end.
I decided on a Run 4-minutes, Walk 4-minutes. The thought of 9/1 was too much.
I managed 18.2 miles in 3hrs and 6minutes. I did run a double 4-minutes in each hour on an easy section to keep the number of run sections at 8 vs 7 walk sections.
I walk quick 13:30-14:00 minute miles and run pace was typically 08:30.
Average pace for the day was 10:28 (5.7 mph). Keeping this pace up would see a mara in about 4:30 or walking the rest would be around 5hrs.
Was very happy with the pace given I walked half of it. Shows just how effective Run/Walk can be. Given recent 6 mile run was just under 10:00 minute miles
In the first hour I was keen to get the run sections started but by the end of the third hour I was keen to see the 4-minute run sections end. So I guess it was judged about right. Really didn't want to go any further today but won't have hills on Outlaw course.
So if you see me walking a lot at Outlaw it is part of the strategy!
