South Yorkshire Half Marathon

Hello all!

Just wondering if anyone is doing this one? I'm doing the London Marathon and fancied fitting in another half marathon before the big day!x

  • There`s one or two on the Sheffield Social thread that are doing it but I`d already entered the Dronfield 10k for that day.
  • I'll do it!image
  • Im looking to do it. anyone driving from sheffield? can share petrol cost.

first I have heard of this race may do it next year as doing Bradford 10k on that day this time
  • I am looking to do this before the london marathon, just hope it is not to hilly x
  • think I'm going to do this as a warm up for London
  • good stuff! agree with nichola....hopefully not too hilly! the 3d map on the race website is pretty cool! but can't quite tell what the elevation is like...
  • runners love hills, come on. image
  • haha...yes! hills would be good training (that's what i tell myself anyway!)
  • you got to in sheffield, full on hills. attack those hills.

what are you guys & girls looking for time for the SYM?
  • yeah true..only lived here since december 09...hated the hills at first, but now have come to love them! i'll take stiff legs for awesome views!

as its so close to london, and ill be in 40+ mileage weeks, i'll not be hoping for a pb...but still hope to get under 1:45.

    what about you?

  • Think my aim is to finish.

Good luck to you all taking part in the south yorkshire marathon and london x x
  • Im looking for 1;50, Its my first half marathon so will be interesting to see the difference from all the training. image
  • I'm doing this, thought it's only right as it's on my doorstep and I train near the route. Sorry to say to those that don't want hills but it is going to be hilly especially the locally notorious Sticking Hill...
  • I will be doing it. Aim is 1hr 25ish as that is current pace i am in but would be happy to break 1hr 30 barrier. First real tester for white peak marathon in May.
  • i'm doing this one too, it will be my 4th half and i'd hope for sub 1:50 but hearing of the hills i'm now not sure. As Runningowl will tell you from Saturdays parkrun... i fade away on hills. Something to do with me being a Donny lad.
  • It isn't hilly, you have to do Sticking Hill twice but it is over in no time.

We ran the course the other day to recce the course and i think there could be some fast times.

Don't take too much notice of the race profile it looks a lot worse than it is.

  • Did the race today. Sticking hill isnt even a hill! Its only a little bank really. Great course!
  • Apart from the last 1/10th of a mile I'd agree. Anyone know how you can edit the race rating, one of mine used the default after I missed it.
  • I hope everybody had a good run.

    Results are on

  • I missed the entry for this so if anyone can't make it and would like to sell their's to me i'd be very pleased.
  • i had a great time on sunday image really nice course, actually really enjoyed the undulations! and a new pb too!

how did everyone else get on?
