Hi all, wonder if I can pick the collective brain...
Background... I'm 22. Have been running for a few years now including a couple of marathons.
In the last couple of weeks I've had a pain in my big toe (on my right foot) at the second joint... I've only run on it when it wasn't sore, only I've noticed that the effect of running on it has been to exacerbate the problem. I'm fine when running, but afterwards it is very painful, particularly during lifting of the toe or walking. Active and passive flexion ranges of motion are both limited. It feels like a joint pain rather than muscular.
The only thing I've found through googling is hallux rigidus... Am I along the right lines? (Please say it's not that serious!) and what can I do about it? I'm supposed to be running London next month but I don't think I should be running on this at all.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!
