Well it's finally happened; we've exchanged contracts on the house so we're officially outta here after almost 14 years away. Not bad for what started as a 1-2 year trip to see a bit of the world, and somehow got sidetracked into jobs, kids, mortgages and a few IMs along the way. We’re homeless from June 16th, and will fly out early the following week, once we actually book some flights. Sadly the ‘ten pound Pom’ tickets ran out last century, and the free travel with zero star Port Arthur hotel option the century or so before that, so it’s costing a small fortune for a DIY relocation.
Beers it is then, and Friday 13th May seemed somehow appropriate for one last trip to Doggetts. Yes, it’s rubbish, but it’s cheap and familiar, and a short stagger from a few train stations. Hopefully early enough in the season not to upset too many racing/traning plans, and to sober up before Bala.
So, get you leave passes and/or excuses in, and get down to Doggetts on the 13th for a few Frulis.
Look forward to rolling out the black and yella carpet in years to come when the PSOF sets sail for IMOz, IMWA, Challenge Cairns etc etc

I think we need a list (well, probably more than one)
Sorry I can't be with you tonight (video submissions acceptable)
Ironholgs
Should be there barring accidents, force majeure etc
Ferret
Kanga (presumably)
I'll have to do some serious work to get this one in the diary, i've just cancelled a night out with an old uni friend as Mrs L had already booked babysitter in for the evening so that we could spend some quality time together..........not sure if doggetts falls into that category but will go and find the number for the local florists and revert later.
Otherwise I'll do my best to catch you for a cheeky one or 2 pre June 16th.
;-)
Did someone say beers? I'll be there
Aw, shucks Does that mean you'll be beering then ?
All beer, no hills, what's not to like ? She's on standby, something about a prior engagement but I'll soon scupper that. Will need her to carry me homeHave to request this on the karaoke ....
Farewell to old England forever,
Farewell to my rum culls as well,
Farewell to the well–known Old Bailey
Where I used for to cut such a swell.
Chorus:
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-ay,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
And we're bound for Botany Bay.
There's the captain as is our commander,
There's the bo'sun and all the ship's crew,
There's the first– and the second–class passengers,
Knows what we poor convicts go through.
'Taint leaving old England we cares about,
'Taint cos we mis-spells what we knows,
But because all we light–fingered gentry
Hops around with a log on our toes.
These seven long years I've been serving now
And seven long more have to stay,
All for bashing a bloke down our alley
And taking his ticker away.
Oh had I the wings of a turtle–dove,
I'd soar on my pinions so high,
Slap bang to the arms of my Polly love,
And in her sweet presence I'd die.
Now all my young Dookies and Dutchesses,
Take warning from what I've to say:
Mind all is your own as you toucheses
Or you'll find us in Botany Bay.
Boo for going, but yay for beers (and um gin and tonics!)
We'll be there.
Blimey - the singing has started already!
Will have to buy you a beer in Bala.
sorry not to be able to make it, Kanga, no way I can get off work, get to the airport, catch a flight and be at Doggetts in time.
Been good knowing you!
First the Oz dollar has gone sky high, so we'll probably be moving into an even smaller place in Sydney, but the weather's turned crap well ...
we will try to struggle along to giveyou a good send off!!
They'll still get dragged to races OC, just not quite so many in the UK/Europe
See you there. Reckon I may be able to manage the five minute walk from the office by then!
