London Social

A handful of us have been doing a little offline nattering to resurrect the London socials.  Most of us are skint and most of us can't afford to do this every month like we used to, so we're going for every now and again, depending when someone gets round to setting one up.

Sooooooo  PARTY ONimageimageimage.  Kicking off Friday 27th May, at Doggetts on Blackfriars Bridge, probably from about 6.30 to 7pm ish.  All welcome, and if you haven't been before then please come along, don't worry about not knowing anyone - you will when you leaveimage  If anyone's worried about walking into a room full of people you don't know, message me and I'll arrange to nip out and meet you so you won't feel awkward.

Can't wait, it's been far too long!

  • CP that's fab, please can you send me your mobile number via the message thingy so I can send you mine? Just shout when you're somewhere near Blackfriars or Waterloo and I'll come and find you.

Ackcherlee..... does this count as a sort of job-warming party?  Let's face it, I'm not having a proper leaving do as there's so many people being made redundant from where I am, so okay it's unorthodox but any excuse!

  • And we've all had to walk in there not knowing anyone, so we know how scary it is. It doesn't stay scary for long, promise

Are you sure? image Last time me and MikeFrog met up we ended up in Podro's rant on "Things you want to say but can't" for scaring his hamster... image

  • Is that there Blouse coming?
  • Yay! For the idea and the reason. Boo, because I can't make this one. But I'll aim for the next.
  • Wootimage. Re the next time bit, obviously.

Probably not Mike, unless we strike lucky twice on the job front. The train fare makes it a non-starter unless he's in London anyway, which is unlikely as he's looking everywhere else but
  • I'd like to pop along to, if not this one, a future London social.  I'd be travelling by train from Bristol but don't know London at all and have terrible map-reading 'skills'.  Does anyone know if the pub is walking distance from Paddington station?

Maybe walking distance for us fit people but in combination with your map reading skills I say take the Circle Line from Paddington to either Mansion House or Temple station. Closest tube station is Blackfriars but that one is closed for refurb.

  • nope but the tube will get you within walking distance......
Circle Line from Paddington to Temple as I think Blackfriars Station is still closed then a stroll over Blackfriars bridge

edited to delete normal crap spelling
  • Parky no it isn't, Waterloo or Temple are  the nearest open tube stations.  That said,  crashing room is available at Hash Hall, although it will cost you another £23ish in train fare to get to and from where we are.
  • Not sure I can make this one budgets being what they are.  But if I can, I will.  Would be great to see peeps.

Parky - if you come to one I'm going to, I could meet you at Waterloo and get you there without getting lost.

  • Does anyone know which bus to get from Brum image
  • National Express to Victoria Madlot - then a tube image
  • Bakerloo to Baker St, then Jubilee to Southwark or Waterloo.

I won't be coming to these any longer... I'm emigrating in t-minus three weeks.
